Paul, abductions, and sleeeeeeep

Between seeing Paul yesterday afternoon and then watching a marathon of Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files on SyFy right before bed, I had some effed up dreams/nightmares last night. The kind where you wake up with a jolt and a bit of a yell at 3am and you can't go back to sleep because every time you close your eyes you feel like something's there. I swear I felt something touch my shoulder. And in case you didn't know, I've been fascinated and SCARED TO DEATH of aliens and abductions since I was a kid. While I don't think they'd really bother with most of the crap people claim they do, the thought of it all being real is enough to terrify me. The TNG episode where some of the crew gets abducted, sliced up, and put back together stills bothers me. YOU'RE ALREADY IN SPACE AND YOU'RE STILL GETTING ABDUCTED?! I have to turn the volume down whenever I hear that clicking noise. *shudder*

Paul was a hilarious movie. I saw it Wednesday morning, first showing, so the theater wasn't packed by any means. I also had been feeling like shit. I still do actually, and I'm starting to wonder if I'm coming down with something. I had wanted to go see it over the weekend, but it was just storming way too much. And when I finally went, I wanted to take the bus so I could just sit and read for a bit, but my mom got pissed at me for not wanting her to drive me. IDEK what that was all about. So basically, I went into the movie tired, feeling crappy and pissed off, and I almost wanted to wait because I didn't want my bad mood to taint my viewing of the movie.

Thankfully, the movie affected me more than the other way around. I love Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (and their EPIC bromance) so I already felt a little better when they first appeared on screen. Everyone in the movie kept assuming they were a couple so that made me happy right there. I loved that they were so geeky. And happy about it. I loved all the references. I loved that the alien was almost more human than everyone else. I loved that Paul looked like he could have gone to UC Santa Cruz (GO SLUGS!) with his flip-flops, shorts, and weed. I loved that Paul was foul-mouthed but also a pretty nice guy. I loved that he helped influence popular culture (LOL ET). I loved that Clive was jealous of Paul (Nick, I love you!). I loved that the suit chasing them the whole time was actually the guy who helped Paul escape. That actually surprised me. I loved the little shout out to Scott Pilgrim in the comic book shop. I loved that the tables were turned this time and instead of Nick's character dying or getting shot, Simon's character took the hit. I loved that even though there was a bit of a love story, as Graeme was dying, he was talking to Clive. BFF since IDEK beats new girl any day. Just sayin'.

Where was I going with this? Ummm... I laughed out loud quite a few times and was quite entertained. I look forward to adding this to my DVD collection when it comes out. Might even go see it in the theater again. I love their sense of humor and even though I felt like poop again as soon as the movie was over, for a couple hours I had a wonderful time :D

But I'm still feeling icky. Thankfully, I have new Community tonight and we have Dogma from Netflix. I still have a few other things I really need to do, but maybe I can squeeze them in tomorrow. I'm just not feeling the motivation today. It figures that the one night I actually go to sleep early because I'm so tired, I end up having nightmares about being abducted and barely get any sleep :/

movies, pegg/frost, simon pegg makes everything better, [real life]
