Lots to update since last time... finishing exams, trips to Cramond Island where I was told I snore like a 'saw mill', invigilating exams in Glasgow, and I just cut about about 5" of split ends off. But the topic du jour is my moving flat.
As of the 9th (or possibly the 16th if mortgage doesn't get sorted soon enough), I'm going to own a flat jointly with my sister directly above the Auld Hoose. :D Yay!! Until then I'm staying at my parents' flat in Morningside.
Now I have a few options ahead of me. I was invited to move in with David Longbottom in the Sciffy flat in September, and I'd be bringing
shamenaught with me. It would certainly be a great flat to be in, but that was before I learnt about owning a flat, so now I have two choices as to where to live.
1. I live in my own flat.
pros: I am my own landlord, I get to choose a flatmate, I live above the Auld Hoose, I can paint my room whatever colour I want!
cons: May well be expensive. Have mortgage to pay and will need good job or funding at university if I do postgrad to cover it. David has to find someone to replace me, Colin moves in with a stranger.
2. I live with David and Colin
pros: I get to rent out my flat to some nice professional couple who pay me rent, and I make a wee bit of profit. Nice flat, good company.
cons: I'm not living in my own flat so I can't paint my room, there's always a risk in renting out a flat that something goes wrong and I have to pay a fortune to fix it, it's not above the Auld Hoose.
Obviously I've been thinking about this subject quite a bit, but I thought I'd throw the floor open and see if anyone had any good advice / opinions. Next to figure out how to stop my parents driving me up the wall with their incessant tidiness and lack of logic.
