I feel cold, it must be a ghost! Oh no, wait... I forgot we're in Flagstaff

Today Carlos and I are on our way to Flagstaff for a stay in the historic and reportedly "haunted" Hotel Monte Vista.

I'm excited, and even more so after reading about the ghost stories associated with the hotel.

We have no idea if we're staying in one of the more "active" rooms or not, but who knows what might happen?

Personally I have a difficult time believing in 'ghosts' which is not to say I think all 'hauntings' are bunk, but just that some people like to believe in spooky things to help them cope with death and also it makes some people feel special to have had some kind of supernatural experience.

However, I am not a staunch cynic who refuses to experience strange things, as I feel that does one a disservice as well. I don't purport to know what is fact and what is fiction.

I definitely believe that energy can hang around and cause strange occurrences, and with my limited (to near zilch) knowledge of physics/matter/energy I feel as though electromagnetic fields and other such phenomenon could possibly create unusual experiences. Furthermore, brain activity can cause all sorts of sensory experiences that are very real to the one who's experiencing them. And I find these concepts just as fantastic if not more so then the possiblity of 'real' ghosts.

It's simply the concept of a willful force that used to be (or thinks it still is) a person that I can't really grasp.

But again, we shall see. Maybe I need to have a poltergeist experience to rock the foundations of my fragile reality.

Carlos rented a Mini Cooper for the drive, and I'm looking forward to zipping around the corners of the I-17 as it ascends into AZ's high country. We drove around in it a bit last night and it's a fun little vehicle.

We return tomorrow evening (unless of course we're killed by angry spirits or something) and in that time we'll be exploring Flagstaff (Carlos has never been, despite being born in AZ and living a third of his life here), seeing the sights, maybe checking out some ruins on the way up or down, and ALSO... some SURPRISE activity he's planned which I have no guess as to what it might possibly be.

It's a two-day adventure of danger and mystery to be sure!

I'll let you all know how it goes.
