Boredom and being in a vaguely antisocial frame of mind as of late has yielded on this Sunday:
1. Two loaves of bread, one wheat and one white. Not my best work, but after mulling through about 5 or 6 of the food related texts that I have received through interlibrary loan, I figured out what the problem was. I ended up overworking the dough, which leaves me with two loaves that are pretty much the consistency of tack bread. This happened because I didn't follow the baker's percentage and added too little water, resulting in dough that took too long to mix and therefore pre-kneaded before the actual kneading began. The consistency of each loaf is similar to that of a really dense sponge that has been left out in the sun for far too long. Both loaves tasted alright though.
2. Boeuf Bourguignon- well sort of. I didn't have any dry red wine, so instead I tried cutting the Manishevitz my dad duped on me during my last visit to alabama, with about half of the coors light tall boy I was enjoying on this fine summer afternoon. The beef portion of the dish turned out great. Very tender. The sauce and the carrots that accompanied it however, were sweet to the point of tooth decay, after a few bites, it was too much. I'll try this one again. I don't think it was cooked poorly, but the ingredients ultimately sullied a potentially awesome dinner.
3. A yeast culture. This probably will be thrown away tomorrow, but hey, it was there and it was in the name of science.
4. All I want for Christmas is a Shiba Inu. I like the way they always have the inquisitive dog look.
5.Repeated visits to the convenience store down the street for tall boys.
6. me heeding Scott's advice and finding a plethora of B-52's related videos on youtube to keep me occupied for hours to come.
