I think I'm buying a new car next week. It's not something I particularly wanted to do but I think my Neon's had enough. The driver's side window had been stopped working for the last few months. Ok, fine, that'll keep me away from the drive-thru. The brakes have sounded pretty bad, almost since the last time I got them fixed. But they seemed to work fine. Then the air conditioning went on the fritz again. Last year I spent $400 fixing it and it's back to the same shit. Eh, still I really don't feel like spending all that money on the car, plus the extra insurance. On Thursday as I was driving in I hear this sound like something's dragging. I stop and look around and the like rubbery cover on the bottom of the hood has come off on the driver's side and is dragging on the ground. FUCK. I can't drive around like that right? So I grabbed the part that'd come off and give it a few yanks until it's come completely off. Throw it in the trunk and resolve to get a new car.
I've decided on a new Civic. Normally I wouldn't buy New but I liked a lot of the stuff about the Civic and getting one lightly used (~20k miles) really doesn't save that much money. Thought about the Hybrid but it'd take about 120,000 miles before gas savings would pay for the extra $5,000. Plus the Hybrid can only get fixed by the dealer so that's extra $$$.
I had an all-day orientation at the V Thursday. Which would have been fine if I'd spent more than thirty minutes listening to someone who knew anything about what my job would entail. Instead it was just a bunch of hype with little relevance to my job. The little I did learn was that I don't start until May 28 and that I'll probably have to pick a 5-day shift that starts at 11:30 am, 7:30pm or 2am. None of which mesh very well with a 2-10pm shift. I'm going to try switching, temporarily, at TI to an 11am start or find some other way to make it work. I think I need to keep my options open and the V is a very good one to have available.
Wow, did I really only make one post in all of April? Wow, amazing what actually having a social life will do to you. I end up distributing my wit and wisdom in person instead of here. For instance tonight I made a comment about me "gargling horse cum."
I feel bad for the multitudes missing out on such gems. Sorry, I'll try to be better about that in the future but with the extra job coming up soon I'm not guaranteeing anything.
