Things have changed since the last time we spoke.

Partly because I haven't updated in almost three weeks. But nothing really ground shaking happened in that period - until yesterday (Monday.) Yesterday, a great many things happened.

For starters when I went into work things had changed at the IT poker room. Some people had lost their jobs and operations will be different in the future. Things for me are not going to be that different. My days off are going to switch from Friday and Saturday to Monday and Tuesday and I'll be working with some different people. Other than that things will remain fairly constant. If anything this will definitely be an improvement in my earning potential by replacing two weekdays with weekendays. That's probably not a real word but-

Over the last two days I've been part of several conversations about the difficulties we are experiencing. Lots of blame being dished out to the economy, a possible tedium building with poker, but mostly with management. Of course these conversations have not included management and were probably rather one-sided. People have a tendency to try to put blame anywhere other than on their own shoulders, particularly when people are losing their jobs. That said, I have heard some stories in the last few days of conduct by management which was unprofessional, petty and simply reprehensible.

Regardless, the question those of us who remain should be asking right now is not, "Who to blame," but "What can I do to make this better?" That's the attitude I will try to take in these matters and I will hope for the best. But I will prepare for the worst. The IT poker room is at a considerable disadvantage because it's small. Larger rooms have many natural advantages, they can run bigger tournaments, slow times mean 3 games instead of 8 games rather than no game, more marketing.

I'm taking a temporary position with the much larger room across the street, The V. I'm not sure of the details yet but I'll probably be helping out during the WSOP this summer and it could turn into something more. If nothing else it will be a little bit more money and it can't hurt to develop a relationship in another property. The IT Poker Room might be a sinking ship, but I'm not the captain and I have no intention of going down with it.

Something else has changed but I was up at 7:30 this morning for a meeting and I'm starting to fade. Good night and good luck.
