First off, let me say that Molson's Canadian draft beer? Delish. Also? I'm now 2 1/2 sheets to the wind and I've only had one pint and a few sips of a half a pint. Shit's strong or something, cause I can drink the beer.
Except Molson's apparently :)
evenstar_estel's up in our room napping right now and I'm in the pub having finally gotten connected to the internet. I was starting to get cold sweats because I hadn't been on line all day. I missed you guys!
My trip was really, really good. I left home at 8:45 and drove to Pittsburgh International Airport. Found a parking spot at the extended parking lot and just as I was approaching the shuttle kiosk, a shuttle pulled up. Score! Got to the terminal and after a stop at the restroom, headed for the ticketing area. Let me tell you, my children, Thursday is the day to travel. Out of Pittsburgh at least, because there were only three people in line at the ticketing place, and I got e-ticketed within probably ten minutes. Then I checked in my bag which took only a couple minutes, headed for security and that only took another ten minutes. I'm telling you, it was sweet! Since I hadn't eaten anything and I had over an hour to kill, I finally found a place that appealed to me and got a grilled veggie sub. Yum. Except when I asked for steak sauce on my sub, I was greeted with, "uh, huh?" What's so weird about wanting steak sauce on grilled onions and peppers? Huh?
Anyway, got to my gate and just as we were lining up, I met a fellow convention goer. She saw my "Jayne" t-shirt and asked if I was coming to SFX. It was pretty cool. When we got to Toronto we helped each other through the unfamiliar territory of customs.
Customs was interesting. I've never actually had to go through customs before but I put on my bright, smiling, "hey, I'm a law-abiding middle-aged woman who does not write porn for a hobby. Heh, they fell for it. Plus the fact that when he asked what I did for a living and I said, "I'm an accountant for the City of Wheeling, WV", his eyes glazed over as the horror of the dullness that is my job overcame him and he passed me right through. :)
I exchanged my money for Canadian and then headed for Area B to wait for Erin to arrive, which she did within the hour. We found our way to the shuttle and eventually got to our hotel. She, having been up since 3am, opted to take a nap. I, not needing a nap, decided to come to the pub where wireless internet service is available. And also? Beer.
Now I have to pee, and there no one to watch my stuff. I suffer in silence. And drink more beer.
When Erin get up, we're going to get something to eat and then probably come back here so she can post too.
Ta from the land of the Canucks.
