The Susan Cooper books are among the best I've ever read. I've got the set for me to reread and my children to read one day. I strongly recommend them!

And even if you're not absolutely in love with Over Sea, Under Stone, you have to continue reading the series because as a whole it's one of the best Athurian/Welsh mythology retellings evah!

Um, and I hope I'm not being too pushy here -- this just really is one of my favorites in the young adult category -- more so even than the L'Engle books.

Hee! Not at all! I love it when people are enthusiastic about something they've read, and want to share that love.

I'm planning on settling down in my recliner with it this weekend. I'll report my thoughts after I've finished it.

The Connelly book was out, so I didn't get it, but I did pick up Over Sea, Under Stone. We'll see how I like it. :-)

Did I tell you I'm going to Israel again this year? The focus is on history and archaelogy. I can't wait.

I.... I think I hate you just a little. Not that I'm jealous, or anything.

But please, if you make it to Tel Megiddo, don't start the final battle, 'kay? ;-)

Well, I passed by Har Megiddo last year and we're still standing.

Though it could splain the cancellation of SGA.

Do you want to see my itinerary? Shall I post it?

No, the cancellation of SGA is squarely on the shoulder of that spawn of Satan, Brad Wright. ;-)

Do you want to see my itinerary? Shall I post it?

Ooh, yes, please.

Some day I've got to get more into Egyptian history. it's incredibly fascinating.

It's always been one of my favorites. Such a fascinating era. And every time I read about how the tombs were desecrated not only by Egyptian tomb robbers, ancient and modern, but by the Europeans who tromped through them grabbing stuff up and destroyed countless relics, it makes me want to find a time machine and go back and thump them all hard!

Doesn't it just? I think that's part of what's held me off, the seething anger I know I'll experience.
