I watched Merlin the other day, and I liked it. Of course they have the legend completely fucked up, but, eh, I'm no Arthurian scholar so I'm willing to take the show for what it is.
I thought the season premier for NCIS was terrific.
I'm glad to see that Leon didn't turn out to be the complete asshole I feared he was judging from the conclusion of last season's finale. I had just gotten to like the man and then he split up the team! But, there was a method to his madness that worked out really well. I really didn't suspect Lee until the scene when she and the former FBI guy were in the underground bunker and they cut away from the scene. I'm pretty sure though that Gibbs is suspicious of her, and he and Leon are giving her enough rope to lasso in who her contact is. I hope so anyway. Also, Gibbs's look of utter fondness when they were on the video link with DiNozzo just made me smile like a loon. *g*
I really liked last night's Criminal Minds, too.
As for Bones, well, it was an okay episode, but I do have to say that
apparently the nut house feeds its patients a lot of starches because Zack looked a little puffy to me. Also, so now he didn't actually kill anyone, but he confessed so he wouldn't go to jail, just to the nut house. Seriously, whatever. I'm trying to keep caring about this show. I'm just glad I was never a mad fan of it, otherwise, I'd been wailing and gnashing my teeth right about now.
Also, because I just have to keep flogging this poor horse, I posted a comment on Gateworld.net about Stargate Universe and the character descriptions.
To wit:
Several pages back I saw a comment stating, "don't judge a book by its cover". Except that's exactly how I *do* judge a book: by its cover. Or, more specifically, by the synopsis written on the cover telling me what the story is about. If the synopsis sounds interesting, there's a good chance I'll buy and read the book. If it doesn't sound interesting, I put the book back and move on. And simply because a book is by an author I've previously enjoyed reading is no guarantee I'll buy their newest book. I've stopped reading more than one author when I've felt the quality of their work has declined.
Using the book cover analogy, the synopsis and character descriptions of Stargate Universe sound like complete and utter dreck, and as such, is something I'd leave on the bookstore shelf. I've been a Stargate viewer and fan since "Children of the Gods", but you know what? I *don't* feel that the franchise owns my undying loyalty. If they take away a series I love and replace it with one that holds little to no interest to me, I'll move on. TPTB owe *me*, their fan, a series that I can enjoy watching. If they fail in this, I don't owe them my viewership.
I'm still very much on the fence as to whether or not I'll bother with watching the pilot movie.
God, I'm bored at work today.
