Folk Music, yo!
So, poor kellyhk is stuck in the airport in Detroit, and I likened her situation to poor Charlie on the M.T.A. Now for you youngun's out there who may not know much about folk music, back in the days of the early '60s, folk music was hugely popular. And two of my favorite groups were The Kingston Trio and The New Christy Minstrels.
Teasing Kelly about being Charlie reminded me that, while I have an old cassette tape of The Kingston Trio's music, I don't have a CD, and my tape of The New Christy Minstrels is one I recorded myself off of my very, very old albums. Doing a web search I discovered that they're coming out with The Essential Kingston Trio 2 CD set selling for $20 at their site, nearly $5 cheaper than on Amazon.com. Yum. It's not due out for a couple weeks, but I went ahead and pre-ordered. And then I headed back to Amazon and ordered my two favorite New Christy Minstrels CDs.
Now I'm all excited. It's been ages since I bought new music CDs, and I'm really looking forward to loading them onto my computer at work and add them to my playlist to listen to while working on deadly dull stuff. Humming along while listening to poor Charlie's plight or smirking over the guys's problems trying to make bail in the Tijuana Jail will surely lighten the day. :D
