I never remembered Oregon being this beautiful...
I just found a picture that conveys the feeling of Oregon in autumn, great splashes of color against a sunny blue sky. The reds, oranges, and yellows are so bright and pure, and there is a time when the ground around the trees are carpeted with the same colored leaves. Makes the drive to work a little bit better in the mornings.
In grey cloudy days, the colors are still just as bright, but against the darker background, one's reminded that they're the last bursts of color before the stillness and silence of winter...
I've been taking my grandmother to a local chinese church, to have her socialize and go out more. On the drives there and various other things we do, we always share the appreciation at the sights around us.
I still fall asleep in the pastor's sermons, but a little reminder every week to think beyond the routines of life, to think a little of the pain and suffering of others, and to "count my blessings", I think it's doing me good.
