Her shirt smelt of coffee. The smell engulfed the entire thing, as if it had been dunked in a giant vat. The odd thing is she doesn’t drink coffee. She was with him. Perhaps at his apartment or a secret location only told in whispers. Worst yet he could have been here, touched my stuff, slept in my bed. I can’t blame her or even be angry at her. I pushed her away while holding her close. Saying I will do anything for her and the kids, than I run off on secret quests wanting to feel the warmth of an invisible light I know is out there. I won’t even mention this to her, I might still have time to save this marriage if I play my cards right. No more wild chases, no more investigations. I don’t want to smell coffee again.
