Satisfyingly exhausted

woke up this morning and went to church, fall con is in just a couple weekends. After church we stopped by Wild Oats and the NOLS bus that runs on vegetable oil was there, I filled out a scholarship app. so hopefully I have a chance at getting that I would love to do a NOLS program (especially for free). Next Stu calls me up to go mushroom hunting for chantrelles up at fall creek so he shows up and we took Lupa(look in my previous posts to find a picture of her) to pick up Dan and Eric before heading out. Stu, Dan, Eric, Lupa, and I headed up the south face of the mountain and stumbled upon quite a few awesome chantrelles. We didn't pull in quite as many as when Sebastion took up mushroom hunting, but we had plenty enough to make this amazing Chantrelle egg scramble and still have some left to take home. The best part about the trip however was that on the way down we veered a bit to far to the right and wound up getting lost. We hit a creek that I had never seen before, but we all figured it must eventually lead into fall creek (which is where our car was parked). For those of you who don't know the forest at fall creek is old growth and it is seriously a jungle, we scrambled back and forth across the creek trying to bushwhack our way through the forest into civilization. Just as dusk was starting to wilt into true darkness, we hit a foot path that we followed until we ran into the pavilion which was right by our car. As it unfolded it was really fun to be lost in the woods and of course Lupa had a blast, but I would not have been happy to be lost on the mountain in pitch blackness so I am glad we came out just in the nick of time.
