HAve you ever noticed that one can day can change everything? Obviously you have, I have, we all have or that saying "what a difference a day makes" would have needed a much better PR man.

I got out of my car in the garage yesterday and there was this young handsome guy and he walks up to me like he's gonna touch me...hug me even...and asks how I am....I say, I'm fine-Who are you...I'm Ron's son Ricky-Don't you recognize me? Ummm, obviously not!!! He's a Marine and leaving for Iraq next month. Woah! I remember Little Steve and this kid in my backyard blowing up army men with firecrackers and burning wholes in them with magnifying glasses...So, it's obvious he always knew what he wanted to do.

Ordinarily I'm not a super impulsive person. No, really, I'm not. Don't argue. It's true. Sometimes though, you have to be. You have stood at the edge and looked over so long that you can't even imagine walking away from the edge. You know that jumping is just really not your thing. You'll watch the others jump and even analyze the way they did it and how you'd do it differently if in fact you would ever actually jump. Then one day you feel the wind at your back and the voice inside your head doesn't even have time to stop you before you go sailing through the air, jumping to God only knows what. Diving into something new that feels like home. An impulse, a moment.

If you've never heard "It Feels Like Home to Me" by Chantal Kreviazuk then I highly suggest that you do. It's an absolutely beautiful song. I'm not a girl who posts song lyrics in her journal, so I will spare you...but seriously, if you aren't gonna listen to this song-read the lyrics somewhere- and if you aren't going to do that...Well, your life is going to be missing something really sweet that you just let slip away even after you were told. I know my friends aren't that goofy. So, do it.

Okay...total gear switch. Why am I too nice for my own good? Why? I get myself into the most bothersome situations sometimes just because I am too nice. I know that sounds wrong...or mean. But!!! But, it's true! I will find myself wasting time, money, resources, and energy just do the smallest things for people. I don't want to change that about myself. I just want to sharpen the point on it so that my aim is better. So that the situations that I bring that side of myself out in are better suited to really needing me. It's not that I think I let people use me, I just have this fear of saying no to something when someone really needs me and something dreadful happening because of it. Like what if I don't pick the kid who is 20 miles out of my way up...and he walks and then gets hit by a car...or I don't run out the electric company and pay that bill for her and then her lights get turned off and the milk goes sour and she can't feed the baby? I'm not right. I'm just not wrong either.

OOOh, Shawn Colvin's "When You Know" now...My Word!!! This is a great song. LISTEN TO IT. Okay, they are both mellow and a little on the sappy side...don't hate on me cuz of that. Aren't some of the absolute best things in life a little sappy or corny from time to time? They are where I come from...and I like them like that sometimes, thank you.

The children await...What a day THIS is going to be. I hope all of you are doing well...enjoying Superman movies, painting new homes, training new puppies, waking up next to her in your shirt, listening to music that reminds you of me, writing music that makes my heart swell, not going home to clean your guns, getting jobs that you deserve, not washing away in the deluge, enjoying camping trips, and being the best that you can be at everything you do.
