I have not seen Black Orchid, but I'm really going to keep a look out for it. It sounds awesome. :)

And oh yes, definitely Dean and Sam's attitudes sprang from much deeper issues than arbitary birth order; I was impressed they went against what I would think of as being the default way of thinking about that. Usually it seems like the younger sibling is shown as the 'moral' one, with the older sibling being put as the worldly-wise pragmatic one. (Like you I think that's often rubbish, if there isn't another actual reason for it.)

And oh it was definitely better than what they've done with Bela so far - I still think the 'omg it's all about how she was (probably) abused as a kid' thing is simplistic to the point of being slightly insulting to people who actually have been abused as kids, but as far as giving her depth and stuff goes, it could be a lot worse. And I definitely agree that they shouldn't wuss out on her actually dying - I suspect they might, but it would be a lot better if they didn't. (And if she's an agent in Hell, I would expect her gradual descent into demon-ness to be part of that. Um, hopefully. *crosses fingers*)
