You know it's bad when you turn to memes. Here we are.
tangleofthorns said I should upload five songs begining with J. This, it turns out, is a surprisingly difficult letter, cause hardly anybody writes songs beginning with J. However, here you go, for your delectation and delight.
Je te propose by Paul Piche.
Reason: it's swirly and weirdly uplifting and makes me want to sing along.
Jolene, covered live by the White Stripes.
reason: 'Thankyou Jack White (For The Fibreoptic Jesus That You Gave Me)' doesn't begin with a J, dammit. Well, actually, this is one of the most heartbreaking, about-to-lose it covers I've ever heard. It's haunting and really, truly, desperately sad, and really gorgeous.
I like the recorded version better, but I only have that as, um, a Stargate Atlantis songvid, so I am also hoping someone else somewhere wants to take pity on me and upload that version... :)
Jack Gets Up by Leo Kottke
reason: Leo Kottke is fantastic. Also, while it's not exactly typical of him, in that it's less obvious than usual that the man can Play A Fucking Guitar, it's weird in a way I really, really like - I find the repetition and the way the whole thing fits together really effective.
Jenny 8675309 covered by Me First and the Gimme Gimmes.
reason: I've had it stuck in my head for the last two days so you bloody well should too.
Jerusalem by Dan Bern
reason: Dan Bern's band is called The International Jewish Banking Conspiracy, people. Also, this is, in its own way, one of the coolest songs I've ever heard.
There. You want a letter, just say the word.
