Can you believe it's almost Summer? It's almost as if Spring didn't make an appearance.
Ah, summer. What I would do to lie on a gently swinging hammock with silk cushions, an oversized straw hat over my face, an iced cold lemonade within reach, under the cooling shade of a large tree with chirping birds twittering away (from afar, otherwise would have to deal with poopoo).
What I would do to walk in a deserted beach just as the sun is setting, wearing a nice bikini outfit with sarong, sans the belly, cellulite and other unsightly things. Not that I care, as long as I'm surrounded by unattractive people (heh). What I value most on a beach, besides the lack of garbage floating around, is the privacy.
I miss the beaches in the Philippines, where it was scarcely crowded, where you don't trip over a sunbather, or have to run after a volleyball, or dodge joggers and people making out. I miss watching the fishermen hauling in their catch of the day. Of kids playing on the turf. Of women doing their laundry. Of people using the beach as a private bathroom...okay, maybe not THAT.
In California, you have to fight to get space in the sand. You have to pay parking fees. Then it's almost a circus act. Walking a mile through hot, stinging sand while hauling your blanket, chair, hat, cooler, towel, etc, while avoiding kids running around and dodging frisbees that seemed to be aimed at your head. It's just not a pleasant experience. I'd rather be surrounded by a bunch of sea lions during mating season.
