So. The Da Vinci Code. The boyfriend and I went to the theater about an hour and a half early. We were in our seats 45 minutes prior to the start time. And five minutes before start time, there were no seats. The last time I witnessed this kind of phenomenom was when the first Harry Potter movie came out. The theater was packed with giggling girl scouts then.
Okay, back to the movie. I was giggling at the first scene because it was so absurd. Granted, I haven't read the book and so I don't know how close the movie followed the book but come on. Guy gets shot but has time to smear cryptic messages throughout the museum with his blood and then take off his clothes and then die in a dramatic pose? The action sequence could have been better, as well. I can't believe how Tom Hanks' character managed to escape in some situations. I have to admit though, that the music, the cinematography, and certain dialogues were good. But the plot twists were a little predictable for me.
The whole time, the boyfriend was complaining that we weren't getting the "movie effect" because the theater's surround sound was off.
