Last weekend, we drove to Mount Whitney and stayed a night in its shadow. It was so much fun, and unbelievably beautiful. We stayed in the Owens valley, which is this narrow valley between the Sierra Nevada (about 14,000 feet tall) on its west and White/Inyo Mountains (about 9,000 ft) to the east.
