Can we talk about this?

I haven't listened very closely yet. The beats are always the first thing I notice about rap, and here they seem awesome. But so far the words have sort of flown by me without really sticking. I need to give them a close listen before I really decide.

But at surface value, it seems good to me.

I'm still quite iffy on it; there are a few immediately hot tracks ("kilo," "Shakey Dog," and "Be Easy" in particular), but there are SO many tracks, so much filler, and a string of about four skits together in the middle. It's growing on me, but I still feel like it's very uneven.

I feel like that might be the case with me, too.

Some of the wordplay on the more vacuously coked out tracks feel flat with me, especially with all the coke talk that already goes on in rap these days. The beats are way hot, if strangely simple in orchestration. He also raps incredibly fast (bet he was wheezing after these takes) on a couple tracks, practically puking the words out.

I've listened to the first 12 tracks so far. I really like this album.

Not quite on the level of Supreme Clientele or Ironman, but fantastic nevertheless.

"Be Easy," "Kilo," "Clipse of Doom," and "R.A.G.U." are some favorites off the top of my head.

I usually end up skipping the pair of "Whip You With a Strap" and "Back Like That," though.

I absolutely do. I might even say it's one of the best of the mid-'90s Wu-Tang records with that sort of minimalistic and cracked-out RZA production I love so much, though maybe not as stellar as Liquid Swords or Only Built 4 Cuban Linx (though "The Faster Blade" w/ Raekwon comes close). It's a very solid and consistent album with barely any filler. Some of it's so subtly fucking dark, too, like "Camay," with this sinister misogyny creeping out . . .

Sinister Misogyny sounds like an excellent band name.
