The labs are unnaturally silent as Kabuto makes his rounds, and he carefully notes the occurrence in his log book before returning to his desk. There, he waits for his newest patient, quietly monitoring the computer screens that surround his desk. Hopefully there will be no disturbances today.

"Kabuto-sensei. It's me, Ukon."

"You certainly took your time getting here." Carefully he tidied the desk and pulled a clip-board to the center of the desk covering the papers he had been working on. Only then did he turn to look at his new assistant.

"I apolgize. I'm not used to moving about much on my own." He muttered as he took one step away from the door. Looking at Kabuto with a calm facial expression, the oldest twin choose to stay there unless given the word. After all he knew from experience that Kabuto did not appreciate his tools of work being turned into playthings.

"You'd best learn quickly then. You are going to have to function alone quite a bit."
Then he stands, pulling on a lab coat as he continues.
"Your duties are simple. Do what ever I tell you." He smiles at this 'joke'.
"You will be my...assistant for the next few weeks, or until his lordship either forgives or forgets you. You will help me in my duties; cleaning the labs, taking care of the patients, supervising basic training. You will not be expected to assist me when I report to Lord Orochimaru. Also..."
He trails off, and looks Ukon straight in the eye. "I will be running a series of tests on you. They may or may not be painful and arduous, but nothing compared to what you have already endured. I simply wish to discern the nature of these 'viruses' that we have been struck by. I'm sure this will be in your best interest as well as mine."

"I understand, just tell me what it is that needs to be done and I'll do it as ordered." The older twin quickly muttered while letting a sigh escape. He rubs the back of his head in boredom before inquring. "So basically I just do your chores and be you're little test tube?" He wanted so badly to add the sarcastic comment but held it back. Unlike Sakon, Ukon knew how to refuse to say something one would normally say without much thinking to it.

"Our first task will be to clean the botanical garden. It should atleast keep you awake." He sighed and picked up a watering can from beneath his desk. "Do you know the way?"
Reply
"What all do you want me to clean in thi botanical garden of yours?"

He shuffled around his companion, then headed down the hall, waiting for Ukon to catch up.
"I feed the plants earlier today, so I imagine we'll need to clean the walls and replant some of the less aggressive ones."

"...J-just what kind of greenhouse are you raising here? Kabuto-sensei?" Ukon couldn't help but question.

By now they had reached a low door on one of the outer walls, locked simply but efficiently with a seal.
"Watch carefully, Ukon. You will be expected to be able to do this on your own." Kabuto executed a few brief hand seals and whistled a bar of music. "That is how you open this door. It will only respond to the proper tune and seals. Get it wrong and the plants will eat you."
Reply
"Great. Death by plants." He grumbled, making sure it was just a mess of words so that perhaps the medic wouldn't catch on to his sarcastic remarks. "Then I assume these are man eatting plants. In which case I better not fall asleep here, huh?"

The botanical lab was in an open enclosure, surrounded by a strong fence that managed to disguise itself as ground foliage. Other than their size (and a certain smugness about their features) few of the plants looked out of the ordinary, except that they were far larger than normal.
