My heart betrayed me
My heart betrayed me once
Its erratic beat setting the pace
Deceiving and telling lies
To fool my weary soul
Into believing its half truths
Hiding just inside the shadows
Never straying from its depths
To find the shining brilliance
That encompassed it unceasingly
With the promise of hope
My heart betrayed me once
But no more must I fall prey
To the ambush that awaits
My soul shall find the strength
And step into the sunrise
