I'm a 22 year-old female who just graduated college with an art degree. I'm educated, opinionated, and unique, I'm also moving to a new location 1000 miles from my friends and 3 hours from my mother who is the only family i have in the state of Florida. Therefore, I will need to meet new people and make new friends. I had thought the internet may ( Read more... )

I stumbled upon your journal through the Tampa journal. I'm a bit older than you so the type of crowd I'm looking for may differ, but one thing I've noticed with Tampa lately is there seem to be two sects of folks in your age range. The well educated, less artsy, uber career driven "upper crust" types who frequent certain bars in South Tampa/New Tamp. And then the rest, usually college educated, more artsy/intellegent/nerdy types who like places like The Hub (bar in downtown Tampa), Sacred Grouds (that someone already suggested), New World Brewery (awesome bar in Ybor) and so on. Both equally frequent bookstores/coffee shops. There really is such a huge mesh of people in Tampa that it's hard to necessarily nail down the exact place to meet who you're looking for. But after reading your journal I would suggest Sacred Grounds, Four Green Fields (irish pub near an area called Hyde Park), New World Brewery.
Also, sorry for the long winded reply on your personal journal, its just where I wound up. =)

hey sounds good... I'll friend you back.

I'm not sure of the location I'm going to be in, I think it might be somewhat closer to Tarpon Springs area, where ever the hell that is! :)

ick, Tarpon is a bit of a drive from most things, although Clearwater is close enough. There are a ton of neat "tourist"y things in Tarpon Springs, like the sponge docks and things like that. But I'm sure that would get old.
