[The camera catches a blurry glimpse of green with a faraway backdrop of ocean until it levels to show us this strange plant, looking rather bald and sorry. There's a heavy sigh and the image quivers again.]

If it is a plant it might come back to life with water, sun, and fertilizer… right? Even a plant from Cephiro should like something like that.
Or maybe you could start some new plants with the seeds from those fruit?

[Granted maybe not the best source of information when it comes to plant life but those are the basic concepts of plant care.

But… Umi had said something a little more pressing that Eagle just HAD to ask about.]

May I ask what you meant by ‘Clef would have known’?

...Eagle. Well, ALL those are on my list of stuff to try out, you bet! Though I'm not sure if it does anything when a plant's left in this state.

Getting a new one to grow. That's a thought... [One that she's considering. Even so, with all the sentimental value this one has...]

But... it wouldn't be the same plant. Would it.

Aw. That. Guess I just muttered it to myself.

[And Eagle would notice that. Umi doesn't see harm in him knowing, however. She trusts his word in the Non-Aggression Treaty thing. Still, there's a pause.]

...Clef's gone home. I checked the Hall for his portrait this morning.

Does it have to be the same plant? Isn’t it more important to make sure some version of that plant exists?

[Than in a softer tone, perhaps sensing that this was a some what touchy subject. ]

Plants are pretty resilient… It may not be as badly damaged as it appears.

Clef has gone home… ?

….

How long has he been gone?

...Guess you're right! Honest. I'm been terribly silly about this.

Tell you what: I'll gather as many seeds as I can when I cook the fruit. Just in case I've to go that way. [But her tone betrays how she'd rather this same plant survived.]

[And then there's the guilt trip waiting to happen.]

He... never showed up for dinner last Saturday. We thought--- ...Sometimes we're busy or minding our own business and, with the curses going on and all... I don't think anyone was really sure until now.

[He nods, listening quietly to her explanation of the plant. It obviously meant a good deal to her for some reason. But… he doesn’t pry. ]

When your plant recovers you could still plant the seeds… maybe sell them in your flower shop. Unique rare plants from Cephiro could be highly sought after.

He has been missing for a while then…

[Eagle hadn’t noticed either, but he didn’t take it nearly as hard as Umi did. ]

How lucky for him… that he managed to return home.

We have a plant just like it there! It's the one where this one came from. [That's a thought... if their time differences hadn't worked against them so bad, Eagle could have even visited the flower shop.]

Maybe I should plant the seeds in this garden and get a whole orchard, like in Cephiro Palace.

He... had very important things to mind, back in Cephiro. In this time, he still has to--- ...Poor Clef... It's better, like this.

[But she's quite worried about Presea and how will she take it.]

You might as well grow an orchard.
If you did, then you would never run the risk of not having enough of that fruit.

[Difficult subject… but he still felt the need to ask.]

But, will Clef be able to mind anything or will he be frozen in time…?

[It's okay, talking about this should help her assimilate the fact Clef is no longer around.]

Time still flows for those who return home. It's weird to explain and I don't think I'm done understanding how it works, but... if he comes back, he may be from a later time than he was before.

[How could time still work for those who returned home?
Clef was from a time before all of them though… maybe for him, in his dimension, none of the people he would need to meet and interact with were missing.

And when Geo arrived for that 4th wall curse… He had mentioned something about time not having stopped. Geo seemed to have forgotten that now…

Time did flow strangely here… maybe that was why… ]

[Suddenly realizes that he had left Umi hanging there while he had been absorbed in his own thoughts and he smiles to cover up this momentary lapse.]

Maybe he won’t return at all. That would be better for him, wouldn’t it?
