CHARACTER

✧ NAME: Neytiri te Tskaha Mo'at'ite
✧ SERIES: James Cameron’s AVATAR
✧ HISTORY: [link]
✧ TIMELINE: Chapter 19: Son of the Omaticaya
✧ PERSONALITY: Headstrong, noble and loving, Neytiri truly acts her role as the princess of the Omaticaya clan. She’s a fierce huntress who’s spiritually in tune with Eywa, their goddess, and the land itself. Groomed to be the next Tsashik in her clan, Neytiri is heavily influenced by Eywa and devotes her life in following the goddess’ wishes. While she is acts as a hunter/warrior by trade, Neytiri is hesitant to kill without reason because the Na’vi views all creatures to be children of Eywa. Believing heavily within the ‘Flow of Energy’, Neytiri only kills when necessary, never taking more from the land than she can offer. Her spirituality plays a heavy role in all her actions, even when a rogue ‘Dreamwalker’ comes roaming through her clan’s territory.

At first glance, Neytiri comes across as a spiteful native who’ve grown sick of the Sky People (the humans) who inhabit their land. The deteriorating relations between the humans and Na’Vi were caused by the RDA’s destructive activity on Pandora, so naturally Neytiri didn’t possess much fondness for humans. That is until she came across Jake Sully, the Avatar chosen by Eywa. Neytiri is hostile and rude to Jake when she first meets him, quick to compare him to a child because of his ignorance. However, at the same time she was compassionate enough to heed the woodsprite’s omen when the gentle creature landed upon the tip of her arrow. It is at this moment that Neytiri’s spirituality shines through, along with her respect for Eywa’s wishes.

Not easily swayed by the words of others, Neytiri is an independent and strong woman who takes the authority role when necessary. She challenges anyone who dares threaten her, even going as far as to defy her future-husband, Tsu’tey, when he tries to kill Jake on numerous occasions. Neytiri is fearless and bold, but sometimes this combination can make her a tad brash and impatient. She’s a tough girl to understand, sometimes frigid, but despite this Neytiri truly possesses pure and honest intentions. With Neytiri, it’s either you learn fast or die. Her intolerance to failure makes her a very harsh teacher.

Neytiri reserves her compassionate side for those who’ve earned her trust, and comes across as a light-hearted woman amongst friends and family alike. She’s a woman of many faces, but she is always loyal and respectful to both her clan and Eywa. Neytiri honors both her mother and father, and values her bond with her Ikran, Seze, greatly. She soon comes to value Jake as well, but the love that blossomed for him wasn’t platonic. It was because of this that Neytiri seemed almost scared, afraid of what would come if she admitted her love to Jake. This suggests that Neytiri isn’t always bold or at least when it comes down to matters dealing with the heart.

She does possess a softer and gentler side, but good luck getting her to show it. However, she is a tad playful at heart

✧ ABILITIES/POWERS: It’s because she was raised in a warrior society, that Neytiri is a skilled huntress and ranger. She’s able to track animals and humans alike by following their trails, and excels with the bow and arrow. Neytiri is also good at using daggers for close range, and isn’t afraid to get close and personal in combat. She is also a skilled Ikran rider, with Seze as her steed. Outside of her skills as a hunter, her training as Tsashik permits her to sense the energy and aura of the things around her. She can literally feel Eywa’s presence much like how her mother Mo’at , the current Tsashik, does so.

Biology she’s stronger than the average human because of the naturally occurring carbon fiber that builds within her bones. In addition, her long tail grants her with feline-like grace and balance. She is capable of easily climbing up trees, walking along thin vines, leaping from tier to tier.

✧ TIME OF ARRIVAL: Night
✧ MASK DESIGN: [here]
✧ PLACE OF SOLACE: The Tree of Voices (Utral Aymokriyä)

SAMPLES

✧ FIRST PERSON:

Mother was cruel!

He cannot see! Teaching him our ways means nothing if cannot see. The dreamwalker flounders with every step. He falls, trips, and rolls across the ground like a baby! He cannot understand us, not when he cannot understand himself. Unlike others who taught those of our clan, I’m teaching a dreamwalker to be like us.

Po skxawng! (He is a moron!} A fool who doesn’t mind his tail!

As much as I try, he cannot speak Navi well enough to be heard. These dreamwalkers can teach us their words, but we cannot teach them ours? It is annoying!

I grow tired of this but this is my duty. It is Eywa’s will that guides me, and the will that guides us all. If Eywa wants me to teach him, then I will.

✧ THIRD PERSON:

Upon bare feet, she ran. The night chased her with hunger, the shadows clinging to her cerulean skin in a vain attempt to dull the glow of the shimmering pearls. Neytiri roamed through night with abandon, her amber eyes in search of something that lied beyond this City of Dreamwalkers. She was hunting, hunting for a way to return to the lands of birth. Neytiri searched desperately for thirty-foot trees and enormous green leaves. She searched for shades of lavender and blue, but only found gray. No matter how far she raced through this dream-like city, Neytiri found nothing that reminded her of home.

Dejected and neglected, the princess of the Omaticaya finally slowed in her step once fatigued claimed her. Gasping for air in low shallow breaths, Neytiri glanced up to the sky to seek answers. The stars glowed like diamonds in this canvass of black ink, with only a single moon to illuminate the sky with a celestial glow. It was odd to gaze up at a foreign sky, especially since Pandora possessed many moons.

Wondering how far her dreams have brought her, Neytiri continued by foot through this fantasy world. She traveled wordlessly through Promenade like a silent killer, her movements matching that to the gliding of Toruk’s wings. On edge within this realm of countless desires, Neytiri eventually came to a halt once more once she spotted people nearby. They were humans, much like the savages who invaded her world. The Na’vi was naturally wary of such people, especially since the humans pilfered through their soil in search of mere stones. Many lives were lost because of these foreigners, a grim truth that Neytiri knew about all too well.

She idly watched the humans in silence as they tried to speak through gestures, making sure to keep herself hidden within the shadows. Once the pair dispersed, the huntress emerged from hiding. The faint glow of an orange-bulb street lamp cloaked her skin in false hue, making her seem mauve now. Neytiri glanced about, keeping her gaze sharp upon the still shadows around her.
