It wasn't often the Doctor could enjoy the quiet hum of the time rotor while he was tending to his ship, performing minor adjustments and rearranging wires and bits until he was absolutely certain his 'girl' was in perfect working order. Well, as perfect as she could be until he found another item to improve or tweak. In fact, as he was humming along to the music 'Whistle For The Choir' playing in his head, he began to realize that maybe it was a little too quiet.

He let the last few notes drift away, turning his head and hoping to catch any type of noise other than the ship's calming modulations. Silence. He felt himself relaxing a bit until Rose's voice stirred in his mind. "If it's too quiet, they're up to no good."

Wiping a hand across his face he blew out a long breath knowing he was only putting off the inevitable by ignoring the quiet. Pulling himself out from under the console, he sat up and glanced around, half expecting to find the TARDIS stripped. It looked normal-at least no signs of vandalism, no tied up bodies dangling from the arches, no armies of remote controlled Daleks marching forward, and walking around the control panels he saw no signs of ransom notes laying on the terminal.

Still, he began rubbing the back of his neck, frowning as he typed a few commands and peered closely at the monitor. He was sensing something unusual, and that creeping feeling was beginning to give him goosebumps.

The screen displayed tiny flashing dots throughout the ship in various locations and he hurriedly began counting off on his fingers, suddenly stopping when he reached six. Pulling his glasses out and setting them on the end of his nose, he began inspecting the display closer, mumbling all the while. After a moment hee stood quickly and began running. "Rose?" he yelled, his voice carrying through the corridor ahead of him.

Stopping just inside the kitchen doorway, he spied chibi!Carlisle standing on a chair, hands tucked behind his back, his face registering guilt while giving the Doctor a sheepish grin. Sliding the cookie jar lid back on, he scooped chibi!Carlisle up. "Rose would not take kindly to us spoiling our tea," he admonished while accepting the half-eaten biscuit in apology. Wiping the telltale crumbs off the front of their shirts, he continued searching for the others.

Nearing the bedroom, he could hear laughter coming from somewhere inside. He didn't see anyone until his eyes fell on the bathroom door which was partially open. Pushing the door open further, he was about to speak, then realized what he was seeing and hurriedly closed the door, letting out a shaky breath. Rassilon, he thought, before hearing the inquiring meep from chibi!Carlisle, which brought all sense back. He swung the door wide open and shouted. "What's going on in here? Nope, never mind. Rose can sort this out," he stated, pulling chibi!Jack from the mountain of bubble bath he was hiding amongst. The Doctor wrapped him securely in a towel amidst his protests. "Rinse off later," he snarled back and, turning away, held a towel out to chibi!Rose, glaring at chibi!Carlisle, who quickly averted his eyes forward, giving her a bit of privacy.

With the three tucked safely in his arms he again began striding through the ship, following the sound of music playing. He stepped into the library, and they were all a bit flabbergasted upon seeing chibi!Giac and chibi!Ten waltzing, together. Chibi!Giac was enjoying himself immensely and continued dancing, while chibi!Ten was stammering an explanation his face turning every hue of red one could imagine, finally settling on a deep crimson, highlighting the wildly ruffled hair. Chibi!Jack offered a few lewd suggestions and it was all the Doctor could do not to burst out laughing.

Adding the two dancers to his small menagerie he tried reassuring chibi!Ten. "Of course no one thinks you're a nutter for wanting to learn to dance." He was able to refrain from adding any comments about the choice of partners. "Yes, I think Rose just might be impressed," he found himself agreeing with chibi!Giac, and gave the little Time Lord a quick wink.

The Doctor was becoming a bit tired of walking, especially since his arms were still full of squirming chibis he wasn't about to let go of, and began questioning his small companions. The only piece of information he found helpful but also puzzling, was that they all agreed no one had seen Rose after she'd given them a hug.

"When was this?" It was chibi!Jack's explanation that had the Doctor stopping and giving them a puzzled look. Finally chibi!Rose explained there had been a message from Jackie earlier in the day stating a quote from the newspapers about how folks didn't get enough hugs. So Rose had hugged the chibis, all except chibi!Master who'd defiantly refused to participate in such degrading biological demands and had run away.

The Doctor's eyebrows began furrowing downward causing both chibi!Jack and chibi!Giac to grow silent in their boasting of 'extra' hugs. He started forward again and the chibis silence only increased the reverberations of his footsteps in the hallway. Musing about where chibi!Master and Rose might have gotten to, he pulled up short, almost tripping over chibi!Nine lounging at a corner.

"What have you been up to?" he asked, lifting him upwards. Chibi!Nine was shaking his head and crossing his arms over his chest, refusing to talk. "You can tell me," the Doctor tried coaxing him. "They aren't listening." The other chibis quickly meeped their agreement and, put their hands over their ears, causing chibi!Nine to roll his eyes in exasperation. The Doctor, dropping to his knees, released the other chibis, keeping a firm hold on chibi!Nine, and then rose to his full height, looking the smaller figure in the eye. "Just you and me big fella," he said, giving chibi!Nine a saucy grin, and earning him a darkened scowl in return.

The Doctor, looking past chibi!Nine realized they were standing in front of the door to the Zero room. "Ahhhh," he began smiling. "You were following Rose." He didn't have to look at chibi!Nine's face to confirm his suspicions. "She forgot about your hug when chibi!Master went off on his temper tantrum." Refusing to meet the Time Lord's eyes, chibi!Nine was intently studying the tips of his boots, when they swung back into his vision. "You just need a great big ol' hug," the Doctor brightly explained, ignoring the look of shock on the other's face. Then pulling chibi!Nine into his chest, he hugged him tight. It didn't take more than a few seconds before he was feeling small arms wrap around his neck and, patting him on the back, he gently set chibi!Nine down.

The door to the Zero room opened at the same time and Rose was standing there, holding a rather disgruntled looking chibi!Master. Setting him on the floor she was instantly surrounded and had to hold her hands up in mock surrender. "Slow down, slow down. I think I have plenty of hugs left for everyone."

Chibi!Nine finally got his hug from Rose and then a second even longer until a cough caught her attention. Looking upwards she found herself being pulled into a warm embrace. "Think it's my turn," the Doctor murmured, ignoring the protests from below as he hugged Rose close to him. Giggling, Rose whispered into his ear. "I think I've created a monster," indicating the waiting group below.

Adjourning to the study, everyone found themselves a seat on the large sofa, preparing for an impromptu movie night, complete with popcorn, soda, the Muppets, and random hugging.

Even chibi!Master allowed Rose to hug him again-although he still denies it.
