[When the feed clicks on, it shows the upperlevel of Falkner's gym, the pokegear being held from a very cool looking angle by a certain Skiploom, as the wooden platform heads up, bringing Soul and Jade to the top floor. Soul's turn was first, so they decided, and he smiles at her with a nod as he steps forward onto the wooden battlefield.]

[Soul takes his spot on the field, hands in pockets as is the usual for him. He really didn't want to waste any time with this guy; so instead of responding to the usual banter like most trainers did, he just shakes his head with a usual grin and waits for when it's okay to begin. Once the battle ref gives the go, he tosses Deathscythe's Pokeball out first, the metal bird landing with a thump on his feet and letting out a couple chirps.
Likewise, Falkner gives up trying to bother Soul, and lets out his Noctowl, looking confident. The first order is given --]

Noctowl -- use Sky Attack!

Deathscythe; throw some Spikes out there, and dodge it!

[As the Noctowl attempts to divebomb Soul's Skarmory, Deathscythe rolls out of the way as he launches a great deal of spikes onto the field -- but he just barely dodged it, and ends up getting hit anyway, luckily only taking most of the damage instead of all of it.]

Dammit -- C'mon, you got this; When you're up, use Steel Wing!

Go for Hypnosis this time! Not flying so well, huh, bigshot?

[Deathscythe manages to avoid being hypnotized, and swoops at the Noctowl with his wing extended -- feathers falling from where the owl was hit.]

You've probably heard tons of cracks about clippin' your wings or stuffin' you in a cage, so I'm just gonna save it -- but I gotta admit, it look's like that bird's cooked. Get'em with it again, dude! [Said with a casual, drooling grin, of course.]

No, dodge it!

[The Noctowl tries to get out of the way -- but fails, thanks to Deathscythe's speed. Another hit, and the Noctowl lands on the ground to fight from below for now.]

Noctowl, use Reflect! You can't afford another hit from that damn Steel Wing!

[A flash, and the wall of light is put up to supress whatever blows are dealt next. But Soul just shrugs.]

Face it, dude, that bird's already out of the sky. Deathscythe; use Air Cutter while you got the advantage!

[The Skarmory flies a little higher up, whipping up a razor sharp wind and sending it down at his opponent. A critical hit! The Noctowl's down for the count.]

Tch. Don't think the rest of my team will be so easy!

[At that, Falkner sends out his next Pokemon -- his Honchkrow, which ends up landing rather ungracefully on a spike or two. Soul shrugs, keeping Deathscythe out on the field.

He looks up at the Pokegear, giving Sunshine a nod, and nods over at Jade --- and then the sound cuts, being muffled by the grass Pokemon. Whatever Soul just ordered Deathscythe to do must've been painful, because he covered his ears beforehand, while Falkner's shoot up immediately. Metal Sound -- the Honchkrow being affected worst, of course.
The sound comes back after the screech diminishes, and Soul grins.]

Honchkrow, Astonish it!

Deathscythe, do a barrel roll! And use Swift!

[The Honchkrow takes flight, cawing loudly as it swoops at Deathscythe -- but the metal bird dodges it, and fires a star shaped ray, hitting the Honchkrow dead on. It's knocked back in the air, but isn't done yet.]

Use Pursuit next! And keep try to keep out of it's range!

Deathscythe, dodge it with Agility!

[The Skarmory dodges out of the way, zipping across the field to avoid getting hit.]

Next, use Leer! You got this in the bag, dude!

Use Wing Attack, Honchkrow! Get it before it can!

[The Honchkrow launches at Deathscythe, getting hit with a leer, but managing to land a swift hit anyway. The metal bird gets knocked back, but manages to stay in the air.]

C'mon, dude, you almost got it! Hit it with Steel Wing!

Don't let it hit you, Honchkrow -- try and get it with Swagger!

[Soul stops to consider this briefly. Swagger? His Pokemon is going to try and use it's swag on his? 'S a little dumb. BUT BESIDES THAT -- Deathscythe is unfazed by this apparently cool crow's obvious swag, so he zips at the crow, blades extended.
It lands with a thud.]

At least that one managed to keep flying, dude.

... T-tch! This one will be able to do more than fly! Go, Pidgeot!

[Soul looks at this rather impressive bird for a short amount of time. Definitely looks like something Deathscythe can take -- but he returns him, opting to let out Wes instead. The lizard looks at Soul, confused, with "I thought you didn't like me?" written all over his scaly face. Soul just gives him a grin.]

Pidgeot, use Gust!

Dodge it, and use Smokescreen when you can!

[The Pokemon do as they say, with the bird whipping up a gust of wind; it manages to knock Wes back, but not out, and the lizard blasts the field with Smokescreen, effectively covering the field. It goes kind of eerily quiet; all the can be heard is Soul drooling before giving the next order.]

Wes; Fire Fang -- you can jump that high; 's not too hard.

I know you can't see him, but don't let it hit you! Counter with Twister!

[But it's too late -- a spark, and Wes is launching into the air with a mouthful of flames, effectively attaching to and burning the Pidgeot's side. It lets out a squawk, and flaps haphazardly until the Charmeleon lets go and drops back into the smoke.]

Pidgeot; Quick Attack! Try and find'im in all that smoke, you can do it!

Whatever! Wes, give that thing a nasty face when it finds you, got it?

[Soul lets out a snort, watching Wes in the Smokescreen. As the cover starts to disappear, the Pidgeot swoops down to where it hopes the Charmeleon is hiding -- and gets a face full of Scary Face instead, effectively sending the bird backwards into the air, it's wings finally disapating the smoke. Of course, Soul finds this absolutely priceless, and can't help cracking up.]

Man, you shoulda seen the look on your buzzard's face, dude! Pffft; Wes, give it an Ember as a present, got it?

Oh come on, it wasn't funny! Pidgeot, try for a Quick Attack!

I dunno what you saw, 'cause it was hilarious!

[And again the bird is swooping at Wes, trying to stay out of his range, and manages to land a hit -- only to get it's tail caught on fire by Wes's Ember.]

Good job, dude! Now finish the damn thing off with another Fire Fang!

No! Dodge it, Pidgeot -- and then use Twister!

[Wes stands his ground, sliding his claw back to get his footing. He waits for the right time, and... leaps! He lets the Twister hit him, but uses it's wind to get extra height, effectively landing the last blow to the Pidgeot's wing, sending it to the ground. Down and out.

Soul waits for the ref to call it his win, before walking over to Falkner.]

... Nice battle, I guess.

Yeah? You weren't too bad yourself, dude. Thanks for the battle.

[Soul? Being civil? It happens. He extends his hand for a handshake, and accepts his badge and TM, attaching the badge to his headband, right next to the E A T sticker.]

[Soul walks back over to Jade with a grin, and gives her a hi five.]

Your turn, babe. He's got enough healing shit up there -- they should all be up and ready to take you on next.

Congratulations, Soul!

[After giving Falkner time to heal his Pokémon, Jade steps onto the battlefield.]

Hello!

... Greetings. As you know, my name is Falkner and I am the leader of this Gym. People say you can clip Flying-type Pokémon's wings with a jolt of electricity... But I won't allow such insults to them. I'll show you their true power!

[The referee signals and announces the start of the match.]

Go, Noctowl!

Go, Lucario!

Noctowl, start out with Confusion!

[The bird Pokémon's eyes glow red and shoot beams of psychic energy at Lucario, knocking the Pokémon off balance for a moment.]

Lucario, shake it off and use Quick Attack!

[After he recovers, Lucario leaps into the air, runs toward Noctowl (leaving a trail of afterimages in his wake), and slams into it.]

Noctowl, get up and use Sky Attack!

[The owl Pokémon gets up and flies high into the air before diving for Lucario...]

Lucario! Counter!

[Lucario glows a light shade of blue as Noctowl dives toward him. Before the attack can connect, it's reflected back, dealing a massive amount of damage and knocking Noctowl out of the air.]

... Not bad. Noctowl, try to get up!

Lucario, use Force Palm!

[As Noctowl struggles to get up, Lucario runs toward it...]

Noctowl, use Reflect!

[A shining wall of light appears between Noctowl and Lucario. Undaunted, Lucario places his palm on the Noctowl and unleashes a huge amount of bright green energy. The light from the attack fades to reveal that the owl is unconscious. Apparently Reflect's damage-cutting abilities weren't enough to save it. Falkner calls it back to its Pokéball.]

This next round won't be so easy! Go, Honchkrow!

Can you still fight, Lucario?

[The fighting Pokémon nods, a determined look on his face.]

Okay!

Honchkrow, use Swagger!

[Honchkrow looks mockingly at Lucario and caws at him; it almost sounds like the bird is laughing! That is just Not Cool. Lucario is really pissed off... and more than a bit confused. Jade notices he looks a bit off and gets concerned.]

... Lucario?

[The Pokémon doesn't seem to even hear her.]

Honchkrow, use Swagger!

Lucario, can you hear me? Look at me, please!

[The aura Pokémon still doesn't even acknowledge that Jade is talking to him, instead slapping himself in the face. Hard. That had to hurt.]

Oh, no...

Honchkrow. Assurance.

[A huge hand made of purple energy forms and slaps Lucario, dealing extra damage since the aura Pokémon had already taken damage that turn. After he's hit, Lucario snaps out of his confusion.]

Oh, good! You came to your senses! Can you still fight?

[Lucario looks over his shoulder and nods. Even though he's badly hurt, he doesn't want to let his Trainer down.]

Okay... Use Force Palm!

[Lucario starts running toward Honchkrow...]

Wing Attack!

[... and ends up running into a huge wing. KO'D. Jade calls him back into the Pokéball and takes out a different one.]

Oh, no... I'm sorry, Lucario... you deserve a good rest. Go, Poliwhirl!

[Poliwhirl comes out of its Pokéball and looks at Jade with a questioning “Whirl?”, waiting for a command.]

Honchkrow, hit it with an Astonish!

[The crow Pokémon gives Poliwhirl and intimidating face and caws loudly.]

Poliwhirl, use Water Gun!

[The tadpole Pokémon spits a stream of water out at Honchkrow, dousing its wings.]

Honchkrow, use Pursuit!

[Honchkrow blows a few crescent-shaped waves of black energy at Poliwhirl. The Pokémon tries to dodge, but fails; he manages to maintain his balance, though.]

BubbleBeam, Poliwhirl!

[SUDDENLY, BUBBLES. BUBBLES EVERYWHERE. The Honchkrow looks less than pleased. Its wings were already wet, but now they're positively soaked. If this keeps up it won't be able to stay airborne.]

Honchkrow, Take Down!

[Honchkrow dives toward Poliwhirl...]

Use Hypnosis, Poliwhirl!

[The tadpole Pokémon's eyes glow red and it sends a few hypnotic rays toward Honchkrow. One of them hits and the Pokémon falls to the ground, asleep.]

Now use DoubleSlap!

[Poliwhirl wanders over to the sleeping Honchkrow and smacks it back and forth one... two... three... four times. Somehow, Honchkrow sleeps through this.]

Okay! Finish it off with Body Slam!

[Poliwhirl jumps into the air and comes crashing down on Honchkrow, knocking it out. Falkner recalls Honchkrow and sends out his last Pokémon.]

I have a feeling that the wind is with us this time! Go, Pidgeot!

Poliwhirl, you deserve a good rest.

[Jade presses the button in the center of the Pokéball, recalling the tadpole Pokémon; she then puts the ball back in her bag and takes out a different one-- this one marked with a sticker that resembles a dog's head.]

Come on out, Bec!

[Upon coming out of his Pokéball, the Growlithe glares at Pidgeot. The bird is frightened and it starts to feel a little weaker. Falkner notices this, but he isn't too concerned; he's still confident he'll win this round.]

Pidgeot, start off with a FeatherDance!

[Pidgeot's wings glow white for a moment before it shoots a few glowing white feathers at Bec, slowing him down.]

It'll be all right, Bec... Use Flamethrower!

[The Growlithe opens his mouth and shoots a stream of fire at Pidgeot, causing quite a bit of damage to the bird and knocking it out of the air.]

Pidgeot, get up and use Quick Attack!

[After it recovers, Pidgeot gets itself back in the air and dives toward Bec, a trail of white light following in its wake...]

Dodge it and then use Fire Fang, Bec!

[Unfortunately, the attack is just too fast for Bec to dodge... but he recovers fast enough to bite one of Pidgeot's wings, his fangs on fire. The bird Pokémon slowly gets up and back into the air.]

Good, Pidgeot. Now use Twister!

[Pidgeot kicks up a twister with its wings and sends it toward Bec.]

Bec, dodge and use Flamethrower again!

[After jumping out of the way of the small twister, Bec shoots another stream of fire at the bird Pokémon, knocking it out of the air once again. Pidgeot obviously isn't in good shape...]

Pidgeot, can you get up?

[To its credit, the Pidgeot tries, it really does... but it just can't.]

Time to finish it off! Use Take Down, Bec!

[Bec jumps into the air and then slams into Pidgeot, taking some recoil damage... but also knocking out the bird Pokémon. Falkner calls it back and then looks over at Jade.]

... A defeat is a defeat. Here. Take this official Pokémon League badge.

[He walks over to her and hands her the badge and TM51 and gives the whole spiel about how TMs work. Jade pins the badge to her bag for the moment; she'll find a better place to put it later.]

There are more Pokémon Gyms in cities and towns ahead. For your next stop, I'd recommend Azalea Town.

Okay! Thanks for the battle!

[With a smile and a wave, Jade walks back over to Soul, giving him a high-five.]

Let's go, Soul! We've got to get to the Pokémon Center...

[ooc: All replies will be sometime later, while they're at the Pokecenter! Which means it's open for action there as well. :3]
