I was warned by my sister that the 360 needed to take a rest after 2 hours. So I decided to know the reason why... Turns out it was the feared Red Ring of Death, the problem which cost Microsoft $1 billion, roughly half the pricetag of a B2 Stealth Bomber, several lawsuits from angry users, and some fixes.
Damn great, I hate the idea of an expensive paperweight costing me Php18,000. Even sticking a 3rd-party cooling system on the back might backfire.
Now I end up figuring that the newer versions are said to be better designed, but I don't know. The MFR date on the back of the 360 was February 26, 2008.
Anyway, I'm checking on preventive measures, explanations (it's astonishing that this thing can get
hot enough to fry an egg!), as well as possible
unofficial, off-the-warranty, fixes.
If I ever want to own one, either I wait for improved cooling and hardware or I think I'll buy it used, mod it with special cooling systems normally used for the PC.
It sucks when we had this cool, only that RROD really kills the excitement.
