Crap. I shouldn't have updated Sun's Java Runtime Engine right from the system tray because for some reason after updating Limewire goes nuts. Loads for a while then drops out. Took me some 2 hours alone reading about the remedies at the Limewire forums, then trying to uninstall the JREs, install another, then Limewire, and see if it works.
Well, it appears that Alcohol 120 doesn't like JRE, perhaps because they used the same Borland compiler, causing a mid-air collision in main memory or a zero-divide error. So I uninstalled Alcohol and well, with the new version of JRE, Limewire is working fine.
Even so, I have to test it again first thing in the morning. But despite the SNAFUs I don't think I want to go back to the older P2P program riddled with spyware.
To note: I guess the home machine will be needing another stick of memory because 256MB can't cut it anymore. Back then 4MB of memory means that programmers have to work around that miniscule amount, using swap files and thunks. Now that machines carry up to 2GB of memory, it seems that programmers have forgotten about memory conservation, going ahead by bloating up programs (i.e. Norton Antivirus) that once used to be reliable and fast.
Death by MySpace
I've read about an LJ-related suicide... now this night I watched on CNN about a MySpace-related suicide. Hey girls, don't take the Internet too far seriously.
Nevermind about the Dub Shop...
Hmmm...
"Art trucks" might as well put MTV's Pimp My Ride show to shame. Furthermore,
Patrick Macias featured those machines in his show on NHK (Yeah, that was downright dope!).
BABEL Mode
And yeah, I've changed the LJ layout, but this time let's get a bit "serious"... but still I have a deal of links to add:
