He never thought he'd have to worry about something as silly as how much a girl had grown -- that was a job for mothers, damn it! -- and yet here Frol was, noticing almost every day now that Sandry had practically gotten as tall as him. The key word was practically, because he was not about to allow her to outgrow him.

Sandry must have noticed the staring (glaring was more like it most of the time) because soon she started to stare back. "What are you looking at?" she asked him one day, and Frol rolled his eyes as if that would hide it. "Not you," he grumbled.

But she wasn't an idiot, and when, a few weeks later, she picked something up from a high shelf for him, Sandry put two and two together. "I'm taller than you!" she announced with far too much glee for Frol's liking, already mulling over how to best rub it in.

"'snot my fault my bone structure is compact," he mumbled in response. Maybe now it would be easier to trip her.

"I thought the imps were at your old house, from before you came here?" Luna glanced up from her magazine, not entirely sure why Jade had burst into her room to ask about imps (but not entirely minding, either).

"That's just thing thing, what if I get back and they're still there?!" The thought had just now occurred to her -- that she'd be going back one day, and the timelines she had been through and jumped around in were getting so jumbled that maybe she'd come back to imps. "I don't want to die ( ... )

On some occasions, Jules wondered if he purposely sought out people in Death City who reminded him of the ones back home. He didn't spend much time with Serge or Auguste here, and yet the people he associated with were usually reminiscent of the same people he would politely chat with at parties or discipline in Lacomblade's hallways ( ... )
