Oh. It was the dragon.
"Do not do that! Aiiya, what is wron--" Then the rest of the words registered, along with connective thoughts. Ping. Shang. Trouble. In a second flat, he'd regained his bearings, looked about for the sounds of the monster. Ping- Ping was taking care of it? He couldn't! He'd be crushed!
Hopefully, Mushu was holding on, because China was darting as quick as his mind - and the sudden reappearance of that doppelganger - would let him. "Really, what are you doing? You're acting just like a human. What's two soldiers in the face of so many--?"
"Go away. I have no time for you!"
"But we're-"
Something snapped. "Quiet! We are not! Now, go awa--" Literally, maybe. Because Mushu would suddenly find himself a lot closer to the ground, and a large, red-striped tiger with a curiously empty hole where its heart, lungs and stomach were supposed to be. Unfortunately, it still had a good set of teeth and claws; both of which it seemed plenty smug to show off to the dragon.

He scampered back, no way he could get past a teeth machine like that, "HEY! PING!!! FATHERLAND'S EATIN' DIRT!!!"

What was that word that Kanji had taught him so long ago?
Oh, right. "Shit"
Okay. So the situation as was. The lion was in front of him, Shang behind him, and further back were Mushu, China and that tiger. Things were looking bad. Originally he wanted to lead the lion away from Shang, but how would he keep both creatures at bay from their fallen comrades?
He positioned him in the line of the tiger and began to walk backwards, hoping to draw it closer to the tiger-beast while avoid getting too close to Shang. Unfortunately he had barely taken a step back when the stone ball was flung at him at an incredible speed. It was pure reflex that saved Ping from having his head torn off as he bent over backwards, watching it fly over him and in the direction of the lion.
Okay well. That was pure luck, but it worked.
Now to just continue to bait the lion back, make sure it never directed its attention to Shang. He continued to move back, taunting it, and listening sharply for whatever Mushu might say regarding China or the tiger.]

[the stone ball may be gone - for now - but the stone lion still had teeth and claws and sheer bulk]

[ side-stepping and crouching low in what might have seemed like an attempt to be eye-level with Mushu, it curled its lips even more and roared - and still managed to act like it was toying around, rather than actually fighting. the Weapon wasn't on him, after all. ]
[ and China hardly responded to any of it, just like Shang. ]

Goood kitty. Go chase the ball! far away.
[He couldn't see what was going on with Mulan and the Captain, even through the gaping hole the tiger had. He glared down at China.]
You had to be stubborn didn't ya....

[That was one obstacle over come--Shang was safely out of the fray, now he had to get them away from China
The from the tiger sent a shudder through him and now that he was a little bit closer and angled himself sideways so he could keep one short sword on either side of him, effectively readying himself should an attack come from either end.
Now was the time to think. China was still too close for his comfort, and. Well. He was between a tiger and a stone lion. That tended to be an issue for most people.]
Mushu. If there's anyway you can--even if you have to drag him by his collar, get sheng away.
[and please, please forgive him for that sheng]

[ and watch out for its tail, Mushu. it might be whipping at you intentionally.]

Ahhh! Hey watch it pussy foot!
[He saw the focus on Ping and panicked a bit.]
Ping! Get this dead beat outta the way!
[He scampered underneath the tiger, trying to find a way to climb up the furred body. They needed a distraction- and Mushu was best at it.]

[of course, the angle was awkward, but it was giving an honest effort.]

Ow! Hey!
[He glares up at the tiger. Well...paws weren't butts so...he opens his jaws and gets ready to bite at the paw holding him down.]
