Yuuri peered over at the store in question. It was one that he'd never really seen before, but it did look pretty appetizing! "Ooh looks good," He didn't hesitate in following along beside Horohoro, "Why have you been eating all morning?

He didn't really get an opportunity to look at the choice on the board, and the next thing he knew, his new found friend was ordering for him. Aaa well it really didn't matter what he he got, really, Yuuri would just be happy with anything.

The young Maou hadn't even noticed what he'd said until Horohoro questioned him. Eye's widening in surprise, Yuuri rubbed at the back of his head nervously. He hadn't meant to mention that, but he couldn't exactly take it back either.

"Aaa I do sometimes," Yuuri muttered before he tried to explain, "I live in Tokyo with my family, but I guess you could say that this isn't the first world I've ever gone to before. It's the other world that I'm lucky enough to stay in a castle, but I'm not really all that rich, really."

Money was something he'd never considered. Yeah, he guessed money was something he never had to worry about in Shin Makoku, but that didn't mean that he liked spending it either.

"Blueberry smoothies!" Horohoro half-shouted in his excitement at an unimpressed-looking stand worker. "Two of them! Make 'em big!" The worker went to work and Horohoro went into his wallet to count out the money for the food. Man, he was really low on funds. All this talk about castles was making him realize just how money-less he was right now.

The idea of world-jumping wasn't completely foreign to Horohoro--ghosts and spirits did it all the time, right?--but that didn't mean he wasn't still surprised when Yuuri confessed it wasn't his first time doing so. Maybe the boy was a lot less normal than he seemed.

"Wow, that kind of sucks. But this isn't..." he trailed off as he tried to put his thoughts into the right words. "This isn't a different 'world,' though, is it? It's still America; it's just a really weird America." Which was saying a lot. Horohoro already thought the country was pretty insane from his time there before.

The stand worker came back and Horohoro, without much thought, paid for both the drinks. "Well, if you're not really rich, then I don't mind paying this time. But you owe me," he said, in a tone too serious for the casual atmosphere of their discussion. After a few moments of letting that point sink in with his new friend, Horohoro went to happily sipping his own drink and looking for a place to sit.

Blueberry smoothies? Yuuri wasn't sure if it was the half-shout or the fact that they'd be having blueberry smoothies that gave him pause. He didn't really object to the flavour, but he couldn't say that he'd been expecting them either. Reaching down to find his wallet, Yuuri's eyes widened when he realised that it wasn't there. He hadn't had the time to go home and get it after leaving Shin Makoku, and before now he simply hadn't thought of it.

"Thanks," He muttered and inwardly vowed that he'd buy the other boy one in return the next time.

"Hmm that's true. Lenalee said something about there being parallel worlds," Yuuri offered, "So maybe this is another one of them? Since we still seem to be on Earth."

He found himself blinking at the sudden seriousness within Horohoro's tone. "Eeeh?" Eye's widening, the young Maou hadn't even thought about not paying back the favour. "I wouldn't ever think of not paying you back." Maybe he could get a job or something until he could pay it back? The smile returned to his face as the young Maou muttered, "It might just take me a little while before I can find a job."

Would they even hire someone from a different world here?

Following along, Yuuri pulled away from Horohoro's side as he moved to sit at one of the tables with four seats. Pulling it out, he easily slid into it with a sigh of relief, "Aaa now that feels better."

Peering down at his drink, Yuuri found himself curious as to what it tasted like. Wrapping his lips around the top of the straw, he took an experimental sip. It only took a few seconds, but his reaction was instant as his face brightened, "It tastes good!"

"Oooh, parallel world," Horo parroted, as if he understood completely what that meant. Sure, he wasn't totally ignorant, but the idea was still pretty confusing and out of his realm of thinking. Playing along was still better than letting Yuuri know he was a bit out of his league with stuff like this. "Yeah, maybe it's that."

Yuuri's surprised exclamation made Horohoro scoff. "Of course it's good! You think I'd pick out something gross for us to eat, er, drink? Heh."

The money thing was still a little confusing to Horo. Someone had explained to him once about the school giving them money for their troubles, or something along those lines. He assumed this must be somewhat true, because he did end up with a little bit of money now and then, which he promptly spent on food.

"Well, you could get a job, or you could just live off of what the school gives ya." His eyebrows shot up and he tore away from his drink, spilling some of it out of his mouth and onto the little table. "Hey! If you go to class, someone's always making food there. I mean, I always forget about class, but it's not a bad place to go if you're tryin' to figure stuff out."

Without even noticing what he spilled, Horohoro went back to sipping on the smoothie, thoroughly enjoying himself if the loud gasp of happiness was any indication. "So cold and good!"

"Of course not!" Yuuri couldn't help but laugh lightly at Horohoro's scoffed words. Well that was definitely true, and while he hadn't known his newfound friend for long, Yuuri held no doubt that it was something Horohoro wouldn't do.

Peering over at Horohoro, Yuuri muttered, "What the school gives us?" Sipping on his smoothie, it took a few seconds for his friend's words to sink in about money. "Eeeeeh? The school gives us money?" He hadn't even thought of that. The people who are letting them all stay here certainly seemed nice. "Yeah, and they all seem like really nice people if they do all of this for us."

He couldn't help but find his attention dropping down to regard the small portion of smoothie dropped from Horohoro's mouth. The sight caused him to smile somewhat awkwardly before he nodded his head in agreement. "Yeah, I've definitely never had a smoothie like this before!" It was good to see the other boy so happy, and it made Yuuri enjoy his drink all the more. Swallowing the tasty delight, the young Maou peered over at Horohoro as he asked, "So what do you do back home that needs so much training?"

The money thing was a little perplexing to Horo, but only because he had never really been listening when people were explaining the ins and outs of the school. "I wouldn't get excited about it yet. The school is still filled with weirdos and jerks, so maybe they're gonna make us pay 'em back or something." He wasn't about to give the school the benefit of the doubt on anything, though. You just couldn't trust them.

He was a little happy to hear that Yuuri was enjoying the smoothie. Food was a matter of pride with Horohoro. Despite what some people may say about him and "face-stuffing," and "he'll eat whatever you put in front of him," he did have taste.

"At home?" Horohoro gave this some thought. He was always wary about telling people exactly what he did before he got to Death City, but Yuuri seemed harmless enough, so it was probably already to give him some of the details. "Well, I was part of a tournament. It was pretty serious too. The prize is pretty important and people all over the world are part of it.

"It's a lot like being a meister, which is why I think I'll be so good at it." He takes a pause from his drinking and talking to exhibit a boastful smirk.

Yuuri peered over curiously when Horohoro fell silent in thought. He wondered if he'd asked too personal of a question, and was about to retract it when his friend began speaking. "Part of a tournament?" He asked more to himself as he leant in closer to regard the other boy, "What's the tournament about?"

He wondered if it was anything like the one that he'd been in with Big Shimaron. That would be a pretty scary tournament if it was, and he found himself a little worried over Horohoro's well being.

"If it's a lot like that then I'm sure that you will be," Yuuri said with a wide smile.

Crap. Sorry about that unexpected hiatus. :( notsobigbad January 18 2010, 00:47:46 UTC
Horohoro took his time answering Yuuri, finishing his drink in the process. After another few seconds of processing, he figured, What the hell? He had already told Yuuri this much, and it wasn't like it was going to endanger him or Ren any if people knew they were shamans. Most people probably didn't even know what that was, or if they did, wouldn't care or believe it. Still, he hoped Ren wouldn't find out, just in case.

"Uh, well, it was a shaman tournament. See, what we do is merge souls into weapons, instead of the weapons turning into souls. I was really good at it too! I was on a team, and we were kickin' ass. And I had the best partner ever! She was small and cute, but really strong!" He smiles wistfully, while going to take another drink from his smoothie, even though it was empty. After a few slurps through his straw got him nothing out of the cup, his mind came back to the conversation and less on daydreaming about his home and friends.

Time to turn things back to Yuuri. "Hey, you fight? I mean, back home. Like, real fighting. You know, with weapons and stuff."

It's no problem at all :) welcome back though! <3 I was on a slowatus until today anyway :) a_r0yal_flush January 18 2010, 20:24:18 UTC
He found himself insanely curious to know just what this tournament was all about. Horohoro's silence wasn't helping the situation, and as his friend finished off his drink, Yuuri found himself leaning closer in anticipation.

"Souls into weapons?" Yuuri muttered questionably before he found himself entirely enraptured by the story. He found himself smiling as Horohoro described his partner, and he didn't need to ask to know how fond of her he really was. It was a cute sight to see and it left him smiling around his straw as he finished off his smoothie. "That all sounds pretty amazing. I've heard of shamans before, but I didn't know they did all that as well."

Boy had he been wrong with that.

"Me?" He asked with wide eyes as he pointed to himself. "I'm not really that much of a fighter," Pulling the straw from between his lips, Yuuri grinned sheepishly as he rubbed the back of his head, "But there was one tournament I had to go into and fight." The reminder that he had to go up against Conrad caused his expression to drop subtly before his smile returned, "I was lucky to have Morgif with me, though, since I think he gave me a lot of help."

Having always had a bit of an attention span problem, Horohoro started spinning his cup around, half paying attention to it, and half listening to Yuuri. It wasn't that he was being rude--or, wasn't trying to be rude, anyway. Actually, he even gave a try at returning Yuuri's polite interest in his shaman tournament by smiling enthusiastically at Yuuri's own mention of a tournament.

"Yeah? Fighting?" Fighting was always interesting. "What kind of fighting did you do? Weapons?" He put the cup aside to bring up his fists. "Rip guys apart with your bare hands?" At which, he chuckled, because it was Yuuri, and even though he didn't know him that well, he knew that was ridiculous. The guy seemed too nice and didn't look like the kind of big brute who could ever beat someone with his fists.

While fighting was always interesting, hearing the new name Yuuri mentioned was interesting too. Mostly because it was a weird-sounding name.

"Oh, and who's, uh, that name you said? Moraga or something. That a friend?"

"I guess you could say sword fighting, but I'm not very good with a sword." He didn't really think that he had much style when it came to sword fighting, and Yuuri inwardly smiled awkwardly as he could imagine the others back home agreeing. Hell, he knew he was more than likely to swing a sword like a baseball bat than anything else.

"Eeeh? My bare hands?" Yuuri's eyes widened at the question before he flailed his hands in front of his body defensively, "Oh no no, I could never do that!"

The young Maou blinked at the name 'Moraga' before realisation dawned. "Oooh Morgif!" Yuuri said with a brightening smile, "He's my sword, but he's also my friend as well."

Horohoro snickered at Yuuri's astonished look and defensive reply. "Relax. I was just kiddin'. You don't look like the kinda guy who would. But--" He pursed his lips together and looked up, as if trying to find some answer somewhere on the ceiling. "You know, there's nothin' wrong with fighting with your hands. Lots of people would say it's, I don't know, brave. Maybe fair." It sounded like something his dad might say, anyway.

The thought of Yuuri's sword having a name and a personality made Horo grimace, until he realized that it wasn't so weird at all, given where they were now.

"Your sword, huh?" He gave another one of his "thinking" expressions and muttered his thoughts to himself, some of them audible. "But you don't know how to fight with it...hand-to-hand...still important--HEY!

"We could train! I mean, I could help you out, right? Make you a fighter!" This was a rather good idea, he thought, and smiled with pride, knowing that no one could ever refuse the great Horokeu Usui's tutelage. "And we could start running in the morning and--man! You are so lucky you bumped into me! Ahahaha!"

"Oh I don't know if I'd be any good at it, really. Although, one time I did slap one of my friends for insulting my Mum, but that probably doesn't count." Yuuri muttered while scratching at the back of his head. The fact that his actions had lead to his engagement was something that Yuuri definitely kept to himself.

He peered curiously over at Horohoro before Yuuri almost found himself bowled over in surprise from the outburst. "Eeeeh!" Righting his balance, he blinked in confusion before the weight of his friend's words settled in. A smile instantly spread over his face, and with a flash of excitement, Yuuri leant forward in his chair.

"I think that's a great idea!" Yuuri paused in his excitement in order to mutter to himself, "I mean, I don't really want to hurt anyone," Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, his excited gaze fixated itself back onto his friend as he continued, "But if I can protect everyone in the city then I'm all for it."

The cup that Horohoro had previously been spinning around was suddenly smashed onto the table in a fit of excitement. "Yeah! We'll be strong enough to protect the whole town!" He shouted, as if the thought had just occurred to him.

"We should wake up early tomorrow morning and get started! Well, not too early. Y'know, kind of early." He gives this a little more thought. "And maybe not tomorrow tomorrow. That's kind of soon. I don't wanna get too tired right away. I mean, we're gonna be workin' really hard, and I don't take any excuses, so you'd better start drinking a lot of water to get prepared." With that long list gone over, Horohoro sends Yuuri a serious nod.

After he's sure Yuuri understands the seriousness of training and Horohoro's strict training regimen, he smirks lifts his broken cup. "Are you done?" Because he was probably going to get some more.

Yuuri's smile brightened at the thought of them starting tomorrow. The smile paused, however, when it seemed that Horohoro was changing his mind. "Huh," He sounded in confusion before he found himself automatically nodding his head in agreement. "Yeah that sounds good to me." Yuuri seemed to come back to himself in the next moment, and with a grin, he added, "I'm ready to face whatever challenges are ahead whenever you are!"

The thought of protecting the people of this town seemed to energize the young Maou. Peering down at his cup momentarily, Yuuri shook his head before grinning at his friend, "Yep! All finished." He announced while giving his cup a small shake as if to amplify that answer.

[ooc: did we want to end it there and start the new one? :3]

Horohoro stood up immediately from the table as soon as Yuuri answered. "I'll let you know." He grinned one last time, for good measure before starting to amble away, heading for the nearest trash can. He gave Yuuri a backwards wave as he went.

"Have fun doing your shopping, Yuuri!" Then, grumbled under his breath, "I need to sleep after all that food...and talking..."
