The pResonance event had been fun; a real Christmas party like that Sora hadn't experienced in many years, and it made him miss his family a little. But this year he was going to get to spend Christmas with Riku and Kairi, and he was thoroughly looking forward to that ( ... )

"Huh?" Kairi peered around her friend to glance into the tiny apartment she has been occupying with the two of them for her time here. Oh. It was empty. She shook her head at Sora, trying to sound reassuring. What came out wasn't the most encouraging, but she was sure Riku wouldn't have up and left them like that. "I-I don't know! But if he really went somewhere far, I don't see why he would bother packing up our stuff too."

She stepped inside and looked around the bare space, searching for some hint of where the other boy could have gone. Approaching their bags full of stuff she crouched down and began rummaging through them. He had to have left some kind of hint.

Sora didn't immediately follow her over. He was looking around the rest of the appartment for other clues; but it really did seem as if everything had been taken. By Riku, or some mysterious other force. Probably magic.

He had to concede that she made a good argument though, if Riku really was leaving them, why would he pack their stuff?

"I guess that makes sense but... why do it at all?" Sora was honestly baffled. This wasn't a normal kind of thing to come home to. Especially with no note or anything, he pondered, as he surveyed the empty kitchen cabinets.

Kairi bent down and began poking through their bags, seeing if there was anything hidden among the luggage. She patted them down and then ran her hand along the floor around them. "I'm not sure." She finally answered, looking back up at her friend curiously. "Do you see a note anywhere?"

It was like Riku to just take off without telling them anything, but she wasn't so sure that was the case this time. He was set on looking out for the two of them, he must have had something in mind he didn't feel like telling them.

"No note over here," Sora placed his hands on his hips and continued to look puzzled. The shock was wearing off now so he tried to kick his brain into action. This couldn't have anything to do with not wanting to spend Christmas with the two of them - He'd been with Riku buying presents and everything!

Trying to switch back on his almost-ever-present optimism Sora threw a grin over at Kairi. "Maybe he's taking us on holiday for Christmas?" And, what, decided to take all the furniture along with them too? Okay so perhaps that didn't make sense either. But there didn't seem to be anything else actually left in the apartment but their already packed belongings. So with a sigh of resignation he walked back over to where the bags were to join her in her search through them for any more clues.

"Maybe." But by the expression on Kairi's face it was clear she didn't believe Sora. She made a face and began running a hand over their bags once more. She was sure their friend wouldn't take off without leaving some kind of note. Patting gently she felt a lump in one of the pockets and reached into it.

"Sora!" She held up the key she found inside, before holding it up close to her face to study it. "What do you think?"

At almost the same time, Sora's hand felt an unexpected object within his own belongings. Pulling it out he realised that it was in fact a key, one which he didn't recognise at all. Turning to her and holding it out, his face broke into a hopeful, happy expression. "I think it might have something to do with this!"

Leaning over to see what Kairi had found as well, he was started to feel less anxious and more excited. Riku was sending them on another adventure! "Quick, what does the note say?"

"It says--" Kairi pauses for a moment as she quickly scans it. "It says we're moving!" She passed it over to the boy and slid the key in her pocket. "Hopefully we'll all finally have our own beds now!"

Grinning, she picked up her bag and watched Sora expectantly.

Beaming as his suspicions were confirmed, Sora breathed a sigh of relief. "That's so great! I'm sure this new place will be heaps bigger and we'll definitely have our own beds." He grinned back at her, then grabbed his bag from the floor, practically racing her to the door. Now that the truth had been revealed his excitement over the prospect of moving and discovering a whole new home the three of them could all their own could barely be contained.

"Let's go Kairi!" He turned the door handle and swung it open, stopped straight afterwards and turning awkwardly back to her. "Uh... where exactly are we going and how do we get there?"

Kairi stared at the retreating form of her friend, and then tried not to look so amused when Sora turned back towards her. "We're going to the number on this note." She held it up so he could see exactly what he was talking about. She leaned down and picked up her own bag, swinging it over her shoulder before making her way to the door herself. "Let's go, I'll show you!"
