Description: Intrepid Shibusen agents go on an all-important mission to save Christmas. Or possibly just Christmas shopping.
Now, when Hideyoshi pictured a mission organized by a society of magical things devoted to waging bloody war against magical things of a different variety, it did not exactly resemble finding himself faced with an enormous building filled to the rafters with people, mostly women and squealing, squirming children, all of whom were for some reason mouth-frothingly set on spending money on he didn't understand exactly what. Oh, it was all quite magical, definitely, from the sheer size of the building, to the clear glass of the shop windows, the brilliant lightning inside, the moving stairs, even the music. Well, perhaps not the music. That last one was mostly about shrill voices and jingling bells for some reason he couldn't fathom. Must be a foreigners thing.
The crowd was as thick as flies on something dead. There must have been inside that theoretically very large and well-lit building more people than there were in all of Death City. One step in and you would inevitably drown in the masses; or alternatively, in infants' snot, the stench of human sweat, or the muck dragged in by thousands of snow-braving boots.
It was utter bedlam.
He glanced back at his three companions, swallowing his uncertainty. It now occurred to him that perhas it had not been such a good idea to bring Mitsunari along: while he was probably very good at stabbing people repeatedly, he was just as probably not so good with ushering them along with a nice smile even if they happened to be three years olds capable of astonishing pitch. Vash was fun and friendly but otherwise an unknown, and Shalnark was just an unknown except for the fact that he liked money, a fact that Hideyoshi was not sure he could use if it came to bodily violence. The chief of security that had greeted them upon arrival was practically giving them puppy eyes as he explained where the main entrances and exits to the complex were and how many people needed to evacuate it before it was once more safe for any human presence. He probably thought that they knew what they were doing, the poor thing.
"Leave it all to us," Hideyoshi told him cheerfully, and inwardly began praying to all the gods he knew.
