Cloud now seemed pretty convinced they didn’t know each other, and it was enough to make Sora begin to concede the point as well. After all, he knew from both his closest friends that people could be taken from different points in time; this Cloud must simply have been taken from a point in time before he had met him, and been to Hollow Bastion or Olympus, some years earlier. And perhaps from a time when Cloud was a lot more confidant, it certainly seemed like the Cloud he knew was more pre-occupied with his own inner turmoil than this one.

He suddenly wondered how old Cloud actually was…

Sora managed to laugh at the comment still, “Yep, he was a great guy and a great fighter.” He nodded. He didn’t think it necessary to explain what Heartless were (he’d probably only fumble over it like he had with Aqua anyway) since this Cloud, being before his time, probably came from a time when there were none in the worlds going around bothering everyone.

With a sigh, a slight shake of his head and a little frown, Sora then said, “I guess you really aren’t the same Cloud.” Hopefully this didn’t mean they couldn’t still be friends in this time and world too.

"Of course I am," he replied with a soft huff and folded his hands behind his head. No matter what people remembered of him, he had to be a great guy and a great fighter. That just came with the territory, and he couldn't be that much different in the future or the past or wherever Sora had met him. "Being great just comes with the territory of being a hero."

Well, he perhaps shouldn't lay it on so thick, but he found it easier than dealing with so many unanswered questions. He was told it might even be defensive somehow.

"I might not be, but that doesn't mean I can't still make a different kind of impression. You're... here for ice cream or something?" He figured that they could learn something off of each other, so why not hang out a bit?

A different kind of impression. Sora hadn't considered that a possibility with many of the people he'd met, but he supposed it must be true. When you knew someone but they didn't know you, you could rewrite past impressions, fix mistakes...

Sora didn't think he'd made too many when it came to Cloud though. Or, anyone, really. He always simply followed his heart. Until not long ago, his heart had been telling him to get ice cream, a fact which had been all but forgotten when he saw Cloud. However his mentioning of it brought a loud reminder message from his stomach out into the open frosty air. It sounded like a bear growling.

"Yeah, I was." Sora patted his stomach and smiled apologetically. "You wanna grab some? I can always fill you in on how great you used to be back then." He grinned, he was teasing, but also genuinely interested to know how different this Cloud was to the one he knew.

Regardless of what kind of impressions he was hoping, he still felt bad that the kid looked like him. He figured there was plenty of teasing to go around, unless this one came from a world where odd hair like that was in style or normal. If it was, that was a place he wanted to go.

Raising an eyebrow at the sudden noise, he glanced towards the door before shaking his head. "Same greatness, different times," he replied with all confidence. "I should go though, as I have other stuff on the go. We'll catch up again after you've eaten that ice cream sometime."

Sora's hair almost perceptibly flopped a little, but he still nodded in understanding. "That's ok. I imagine you have heaps to do. I'll see you around, yeah?"

He smiled, brightening up again almost as quickly as he had seemed to dull. Running into Cloud had been unexpected but extremely reassuring. If he was here, that meant the fight against the witches, or Asura, or whatever was bad in this world had some strong people on the side of good to work against it. And this thought was quite reassuring indeed.

One thing did finally occur to him though, since it seemed all the more likely that Cloud had come from a time before they knew each other, that meant that he may not have finished, or won, the battle with Sephiroth he had been in the middle of the last time Sora had seen him. But, Cloud seemed quite confidant in his abilities, so Sora was sure it would turn out fine, in the future. He would finally have defeated Sephiroth and all would be well.

It appeared that this kid could get attached easily if a chance meeting like this had caused the kind of warm fuzzies. He supposed that meant that he was going to have to see Sora again to figure out how things with him had worked on that world. He would have never thought of a different version of himself.

"Yeah, I'll be around. I'm on the training grounds a lot in the morning, so we can catch up there," he replied as he stepped away to allow the kid easy access to the door to the ice cream place. "Keep out of trouble, okay? See you around," he murmured before giving a small wave and heading off again.
