He suddenly wondered how old Cloud actually was…
Sora managed to laugh at the comment still, “Yep, he was a great guy and a great fighter.” He nodded. He didn’t think it necessary to explain what Heartless were (he’d probably only fumble over it like he had with Aqua anyway) since this Cloud, being before his time, probably came from a time when there were none in the worlds going around bothering everyone.
With a sigh, a slight shake of his head and a little frown, Sora then said, “I guess you really aren’t the same Cloud.” Hopefully this didn’t mean they couldn’t still be friends in this time and world too.

Well, he perhaps shouldn't lay it on so thick, but he found it easier than dealing with so many unanswered questions. He was told it might even be defensive somehow.
"I might not be, but that doesn't mean I can't still make a different kind of impression. You're... here for ice cream or something?" He figured that they could learn something off of each other, so why not hang out a bit?

Sora didn't think he'd made too many when it came to Cloud though. Or, anyone, really. He always simply followed his heart. Until not long ago, his heart had been telling him to get ice cream, a fact which had been all but forgotten when he saw Cloud. However his mentioning of it brought a loud reminder message from his stomach out into the open frosty air. It sounded like a bear growling.
"Yeah, I was." Sora patted his stomach and smiled apologetically. "You wanna grab some? I can always fill you in on how great you used to be back then." He grinned, he was teasing, but also genuinely interested to know how different this Cloud was to the one he knew.

Raising an eyebrow at the sudden noise, he glanced towards the door before shaking his head. "Same greatness, different times," he replied with all confidence. "I should go though, as I have other stuff on the go. We'll catch up again after you've eaten that ice cream sometime."

He smiled, brightening up again almost as quickly as he had seemed to dull. Running into Cloud had been unexpected but extremely reassuring. If he was here, that meant the fight against the witches, or Asura, or whatever was bad in this world had some strong people on the side of good to work against it. And this thought was quite reassuring indeed.
One thing did finally occur to him though, since it seemed all the more likely that Cloud had come from a time before they knew each other, that meant that he may not have finished, or won, the battle with Sephiroth he had been in the middle of the last time Sora had seen him. But, Cloud seemed quite confidant in his abilities, so Sora was sure it would turn out fine, in the future. He would finally have defeated Sephiroth and all would be well.

"Yeah, I'll be around. I'm on the training grounds a lot in the morning, so we can catch up there," he replied as he stepped away to allow the kid easy access to the door to the ice cream place. "Keep out of trouble, okay? See you around," he murmured before giving a small wave and heading off again.
