After much begging, pleading, and the best puppy eyes he could muster, Sora managed to get the lady attending to give him his first four scoops for free, even though they had a store policy to only have the first one.
It turned out, however, that trying to navigate to a seat with an ice cream cone stacked four flavours high was a challenge. For starters the floor was slippery due to previous rain, which had been dragged inside by all the customers. Keeping balance was not something Sora would have highlighted as one of his key skills. He stared determinedly at the ice cream stack as he walked, which in turn allowed him to momentarily forget to check for small puddles on the ground.
As it turned out, this was not good timing. He slipped, and his arm flew out to the nearest table to steady himself with, but he sent the ice cream flying. He heard it collide and as he looked up his expression turned from shock to horror. The white hair of a boy he didn't recognise was beginning to turn blue, the blueberry ice cream at the top of the stack had landed squarely on it, the rest, scattered across the table he was sitting at.
He couldn't form words, instead his mouth gaped open in surprise and mute apology.

Said white-haired boy was now staring at him. Flatly. Completely unimpressed.
Man, he had just taken a shower...

Sora continued to gape, his mouth opening and closing twice before words made it out.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean for that to happen. I just, kinda, slipped. Um, where's a towel?" He began scanning the table for any form of anything absorbable to try to fix his mess.
He spotted some serviettes and grabbed a handful, then shoved them onto the other boys head, trying to wipe up the ice cream.

The irritation was gone as swiftly as it had come. Soul was already shrugging the other boy's hands away, and starting to clean himself off.

"Thanks," He smiled hesitantly, "Can I buy you an icecream to make up for it?"
He asked this automatically, before remembering he actually didn't have any money, and internally hit himself over the head.

Soul would, no doubt, clean his wallet out with a single order. The guy was a voracious eater.
"You new?"
While he didn't pay extra attention to the guests, Soul got around enough to know that this was the first time he'd seen a kid like this around.

“Yeah, I am. I arrived in this town a couple of days ago. Have you been here very long?”
It felt odd to be attempting pleasant conversation right after he’d just accidently dumped ice cream on the boy’s head, but he was none the less grateful. And meeting new people was a favourite pass time of Sora’s anyway.

Soul paused for a moment, to dig around for more tissue. He was going to need to dump his head under some water pretty soon...
...but he also wanted to finish off the rest of his ice cream. Hurm.
"What's your name?"
Reply
"You've always lived here? How long have the witches been attacking?"
Most people he'd met here seemed so resigned to a long and drawn out conflict. Sora preferred to get things over and done with, but perhaps there was more to it than he understood at this stage.
"Oh, I'm Sora. What's your name?"

The Weapon took a huge bite out of the rest of his ice cream before answering that first question.
"Shibusen's been at war with the witches for longer than anybody can remember."
Reply
"Nice to meet you Soul. That's kind of a funny name, isn't it? Uh... Sorry again about the ice cream."
Sora glanced back up at the boys head. If he wasn't careful the ice cream would stick there and be very tricky to get out. He'd offer to help him wash it off if this place had a bathroom shortly, but first, final elements of curiosity needed to be satiated; "How come no ones beaten them yet? Seems like an awfully long time to be fighting the same people."
Reply
"We've been pretty evenly matched, if I'm getting my facts straight. Lots of things have happened recently too."
Reply
"Like what? You mean the people coming in from other worlds? Or something else?"

Soul popped the rest of the cone into his mouth and stood up.
"I'm gonna wash off. If you wanna keep talking, you might as well come with me."

He followed Soul on his way to the bathroom, he wouldn't have known where it was anyway. As he walked he asked, "What other stuff are you talking about? What else is going on?"
Reply
Soul pushed the door open, then went for the first sink. Hum, hum, warm water first... there's no way he's washing in something cold in this weather.
