Souji wasn't the insecure type, usually. He just didn't have it in him to let things bother him for more than a few hours before the worries vanished like mist. Unfortunately, one persistent worry just wasn't going away. When he'd first met Katsura, Takasugi, and Gintoki, he'd been able to take comfort that they were the ones from the strange world. Even after Sougo had made his appearance, he'd been able to cling to it. But now BREW had brought in more people from that world--including Hijikata--while he stayed the lone representative of his own, and he had to wonder.

Who was the real abnormality here?

Which was why he was in the library now, requesting all the books they had that mentioned the Shinsengumi or Japanese history. It wasn't a foolproof plan, he knew--he didn't know that the history of this world would match either--but it would at least give him an idea. A niggling part of him warned that knowing too much could be bad... he'd learned that much from Takasugi, hadn't he? But his curiosity won out.

Once he'd been given his stack of books, he found a good place to sit and started flipping through the pages.
