Characters: Kasuga and YOU Location: In/Around/On top of(???) Holocaust Mall Rating: PG/PG-13 Time: Nov 18, Mid-Day Description: After the battle Kasuga is in need of need of new clothing and so... very unsure.
After speaking with Taskasugi for awhile, Tsubaki had taken to the rooftops to travel through the more crowded parts of the city. Even deep within the shopping district, the rooftops were usually empty, and relatively quiet in comparison to the bustling streets below.
At the moment, she was standing atop Holocaust Mall, sitting on the edge of the building. To most it might look precarious, but Tsubaki seemed perfectly at ease here, enjoying the breeze that came with being up so high.
Leaving she shops, though not on duty Kasuga's eyes automatically sized up the area around her before she jumped from one landing to the next till she crouched down on top of the building. Without the extensive cover of tree that her own land offered, she had found that her preferred method of travel was across the buildings until she reached her destination.
What Kasuga had not expected to find was that someone else had found a comfortable spot upon the very building she often perched on top of when the city was quiet. Her first instinct was to reach for kunai and expect an attack, but upon closer inspection she noticed the girl as one of the officials of Death City itself.
Standing, Kasuga adjusted her happi as she stepped forwards, unsure if it were okay to disturb the girl's peaceful moment by approaching her or whether she would be better off leaping to the next building and heading to the place she called home as long as she was here.
Though her senses weren't as sharp as Black★Star's, her training still allowed her to hear footsteps approaching from behind, but she didn't sense any hostility from whoever was approaching. With a simple turn of her head, Tsubaki glanced over her shoulder at the woman who had arrived on the rooftop, blinking once before smiling at her.
Tsubaki didn't mind sharing the roof, especially with a fellow ninja. All the ninja she'd met from other worlds had been perfectly nice to talk to, and meeting another didn't bother her in the slightest.
"Hello," she said, her expression open and friendly.
Kasuga stopped in her tracks, slightly startled that the woman had even heard her coming. Though she wasn't particularly trying to be stealthy, it was something that came naturally at this point. That and Sasuke was usually one of the few who could actually detect her from a long way off.
After blinking several times, she bowed her head slightly, "Forgive me, I hope I did not mean to interrupt."
"Are you sure...?" she questioned, taking a few tentative steps forward. Her eyes followed the same direction the younger kunoichi's had and she found herself at piece. Allowing herself a deep breath she closed her eyes briefly before joining Tsubaki's side.
Though she did not sit, she seemed at as much ease as she would allow herself to be. "Yes, I find that I much prefer the rooftops myself. It is... nice." A shadow of a smile tugged at her lips as she turned her attention towards the girl, bowing her head slightly once more. "I am Kasuga-- I am afraid I have not had the pleasure of speaking to you directly until now." The way her voice carried made it clear that even though Tsubaki was clearly younger, she held respect for her as a native of Death City.
"Of course," she replied, as if it were somewhat silly that she might not be. Tsubaki never minded company, even if she was often a quiet girl who kept her herself.
The young kunoichi leaned back on her hands, glancing up at the beautiful older woman. "I think it's just in our nature," she said, grinning. It was easy for one ninja to spot another. Even at rest, they held themselves differently. And they also seemed to have a penchant for travel along rooftops and tree branches.
"My name is Tsubaki," she replied. "It's nice to meet you, Kasuga-san." She paused then, a bit of recognition flashing in her eyes. "Oh, you're Sarutobi Sasuke-san's fiance, are you not?"
"Yes, I believe you are correct," she responded, returning her attention to the horizon. It was part of who they were. Natural loners the preferred to be as high up and hidden as possible. Even when they were not alone as the two women were now they preferred a peaceful quiet conversation than a load party. When things were not quiet, that is when they felt unease and the need to watch every little thing around them. However, the quiet peace that came from the rooftops was one that let them find their tune with nature, to feel the wind on their face. It was then they did not need to watch; they simply knew in their heart if something was out of place.
However, for Kasuga the mere mention of Sasuke's name was enough to cause her expression to visibly change from the light airiness that had played on her face to a scowl. She tried to keep herself calm, yet she balled her hands up in fists. Fiance-- fiance. So, his lies would continue here, it would seem
( ... )
Tsubaki's eyes grew wide and blinking as the woman's mood suddenly shifted at her words. She even flinched a bit when she yelled, and the girl started to panic.
"A-ah, I'm sorry," she sputtered back, holding up her hands, palms out in attempted apology. "He must have been joking and I didn't understand."
That sort of thing happened with her sometimes. Tsubaki couldn't always tell when someone was teasing her, and it looked like this hand been the case.
The younger kunoichi's reaction calmed Kasuga, though only a little. Crossing her hands over her chest and an expression as if there was an unpleasant smell and she did not wish to point it out crossed her features. "It was no misunderstanding, you are not the first he has told such blatant lies to."
Another look at Tsubaki and her expressions softened slightly. "The fault is not your own."
The other kunoichi's mood seemed to improve slightly, and for that, Tsubaki was grateful. She hadn't wanted to upset her in the slightest, and it seemed she'd done just that. Perhaps she should have seen through Sasuke's teasings.
"Well, I apologize all the same." She gave the blonde a questioning look. "He does this often?"
Kasuga closed her eyes and took a deep breath to calm her nerves before allowing herself to respond to Tsubaki, though it was clear that she was still annoyed. "I do not know how often he does it, however, I fear you are not the only one in the city that he has lied to."
She was going to have to have a talk with him. A talk that would most likely involve flying kunai.
"Hm, probably not," she said honestly, looking a little worried. It wasn't good to lie, but perhaps it was simply a misunderstanding. Perhaps Sasuke simply liked the woman; she was certainly pretty.
"I will have to ask him the next time I see him. There must be a reason he deceived me."
"Do not trouble yourself, I doubt you will be lucky enough to get the truth out of him." She crossed her arms over her chest, glaring out towards the city. "I will speak to him myself."
Learning from the horse's mouth that he had told Yukimura as much had been bad enough, but telling innocent bystanders the same lies was going too far. Who else had he told, she wondered... She would find him and get the answers she desired.
Tsubaki nodded, then tried to offer the woman a smile. "If you insist." She didn't want to get involved if she didn't want her to be. She knew it must have been kind of embarrassing for lies to be spread about her.
"Well, I hope you're not too angry with him. I don't think he meant it maliciously." She smiled a little brighter. "Maybe he just likes to be associated with you."
Hmph. Kasuga did not make eye contact with Tsubaki as she glared at into the city, eyes flitting to and fro as she considered going after Sasuke now or waiting until the time was right. "If it is association he wants, telling people of a false engagement is not a way to stay on my good side." In fact, she was beginning to think the shinobi preferred to stay on her bad side.

She glanced back out over the city, her eyes panning the horizon. "I just like to watch from up here, sometimes. It's quiet."
She turned to look back over her shoulder again. "You're welcome to join me, if you'd like?"
