[Lantern Festival]

Apr 06, 2011 12:20

Characters: Open to all
Location: Death City
Rating: Gen?
Time: November 2, 8pm
Description: Unless the city goes up in a blaze, nothing will stop the world from participating in the Lantern ritual they have every year. This year is more solemn than usual, though.

The city is in a better state by the evening of November 2. Nothing like its former security, glory, or atmosphere, and there is a marked scarcity of people in the streets, but it is at least filling out with people again now that the residents had been let out of the shelters and evacuation.

At eight in the evening, most of the lights in Death City go out. Shibusen's staff and residences help in assuring all the guests that this is normal during the Lantern festival on November 2. All Soul's Day, and every lantern represents a soul lost that year.

Everyone seems pretty somber and solemn, but a handful of people hand lanterns and candles to the guests. It doesn't take long before the first of the lanterns floats from the top of Shibusen, and the rest of the city and the streets follow suit. It didn't matter where in the city they were -- everyone and anyone who had a lantern went out or used their windows to send them up, until the city was bathed in the dim glow of numerous, countless little flames dancing in the sky.
