Characters: Yosuke Hanamura, Souji Seta, and YOU~ Location: Apartment 4D, Casualty Communal Rating: G Time: 24th-26th Description: Yosuke is feeling lousy and bored, Souji is stressed out, come keep them company?
the 24th, 12:30pm, after Kurt's discharged from the clinic. And BOTH.couragemantraMarch 3 2011, 00:58:04 UTC
It was a little odd being out of the hospital. His legs felt weak, even if the rest of him felt relatively fine. Two days of strict bed rest and little to no exercise probably did that to you. The fact that the walk back to the Communal was actually sort of tiring was absolutely ridiculous, but he was glad that Souji had agreed to meet him there and walk him home. Kurt had promised he'd stop by here and meet Yosuke in person.
As Souji opened the apartment door, Kurt used the mirror of his communicator to fix his hair. He'd been pleased to find that Souji had brought him a scarf to cover his bandaged neck with, and Kurt spent a moment adjusting that, as well. If he wasn't completely mute and still a little sore from the bruising on his scalp, stomach, and back, no one would be able to tell he'd been recently confined to a hospital bed by the way he looked right now.
He closed up the communicator and grinned as he stepped through the door.
"You look fine," Souji said softly with a smile, shutting the door behind him. And he did; clothes always made someone look better then they might have felt. Dark coats held behind blood stains all the time, and any kind of shirt could hide what was going on underneath it.
Beside that, though, Kurt was out of the clinic. How much more could he really ask for? Well. Maybe the name of the person who had done it to him in the first place.
SORRY I AM SO LATE, ahhh Death Flu ;; 1/2lets_go_partnerMarch 4 2011, 02:48:56 UTC
Kurt and Souji had the privilege of walking in on a rare sight; namely, Yosuke standing up. Sure, it wasn't so much standing as it was making his heap of blankets mobile, but it still counted.
Even if he kind of stank and had only gotten up to hunt for more soda.
"O-oh, hey!" Yosuke nearly dropped his blankets, re-draping them in an almost toga-esque manner. "Uh, I didn't--I mean, I didn't know you'd be so quick, haha, um."
Unfortunately, it didn't hit Yosuke until right now that he was nervous to meet Kurt. But now that it had, he could barely make his way out of the kitchen area without bumping everything in sight. And he hadn't even seen the guy yet.
--But then he did see him, and it took everything Yosuke had not to gawk. It wasn't that Kurt was weird -- he was actually kind of stylish in a...Yukiko sort of way -- it was more that he wasn't what Yosuke was expecting. At all. When the teenager finally remembered his manners, it was already too late to salvage the first impression he had given.
"Uh, hey Kurt, Yosuke Hanamura!" He jut out his hand, sniffing loudly on the tail end of his greeting.
Kurt examined Yosuke with eyes that were only slightly less wide. The blankets were kind of hilarious, and he raised an eyebrow at him as if to ask if they were really all that necessary. It was kind of obvious from Yosuke's expression he hadn't been expecting someone like Kurt, but then again, Kurt had learned the hard way that most people didn't expect someone like him.
He eyed the proffered hand, though, and bit his lip, frowning apologetically first at Yosuke and then at Souji. He typed quickly on his communicator and showed them both:
I'd shake but you're sick. And I'm just out of the clinic. Nice to meet you finally, though.
Souji was already nodding as soon as he set eyes on the communicator.
"Yeah, let's not send you back to the clinic with any kind of infection," Souji said, though he gave them both a smile. "How about the two of you go sit down. Kurt, do you want anything to drink? I have water, coffee, tea, soda if Yosuke hasn't used it all."
He knew that Kurt already knew the lay out of his apartment as well as he did, so he let them go to sit down, going into the kitchen to grab some glasses.
Yosuke jerked his hand back quickly, apologizing up and down. Duh, of course Kurt wasn't about to shake hands with an incubus of viral plague! What was he, an idiot? Yosuke went as far as to take a step back, looking especially sheepish. He would have to squint to see the comm, but he could manage. In some distant part of his mind, he still hoped to present well for Souji's friend.
After all, if you could be friends with your friend's friends, there was no drifting apart, right? Not that he was threatened. ...It made (some) sense in his head.
"Ah, that sounds good! You should probably avoid the couch, I've been sleeping on it, but there are chairs over there and..." Yosuke continued pointing things out, oblivious to the fact that Kurt had been here before.
Kurt smiled over at Souji and placed the communicator under one arm, instead choosing to make a "T" for tea with his two index fingers.
He turned back to Yosuke in time to see him jerk his hand back. He gave him an another apologetic smile and a shrug. And oh really? There were chairs in the living room? He hadn't even noticed! He'd be teasing Yosuke shamelessly if only he could freaking talk. Either way, he nodded and sat down on the chair, a little put out that the couch was crawling with germs because he'd have liked to sit close to Souji. Still... the chair was maybe big enough. He tried to only take up half of it. Just in case.
In the mean time, he typed up: Is the cold getting any better?
Tea. He could do that, and he filled the kettle with water, putting it on the stove. Usually he'd be listening for conversation, but it was a little tough, when only one side of it could actually talk.
But he got out a mug for Kurt, going to the fridge and getting out a can of soda for his friend, and a bottle of water for himself.
"The tea should only take a little bit," He told Kurt as he came back to the living room, handing Yosuke the can.
"It's getting better. I mean, so many people have brought things, it's hard to complain. Souji's a good nurse, even if he really doesn't have to." The tail end of Yosuke's answer was louder than the rest, clearly aimed towards the kitchen. "So yeah, it's fine. I mean, how you're doing is a better question. Was the walk okay?"
Yosuke took the soda gratefully, popping it open with a satisfying kssh. He wasn't particularly thirsty, but the bubbles helped soothe lingering nausea. "Thanks, partner."
Kurt gave Souji a thumbs up and a smile. This whole not-talking thing had never been so infuriating before. One on one in the hospital was easy compared to this. His nonverbal improvisations were hopefully acceptable, though.
He typed up a response for Yosuke, though the "partner" thing kind of threw him off in the middle of it. He stopped typing for a few seconds to stare confusedly between Souji and Yosuke. Was there something they weren't telling him...? No. That was stupid. Souji would have told him if he had... a partner. Like that. It was probably just some weird nickname.
Anyway, when he finally showed his message, it read:
People have brought you things? That's nice of them. The walk was fine. I need to stretch my legs a little more after being bedridden, though. And... "partner"? Where did that come from?
They were perfectly acceptable, and Souji checked the message as well before he went back to the kitchen.
"If you want, we can go for a longer walk later. Being stuck in bed will do that to you," He said as he got out some tea and sugar, the kettle beginning to show steam coming out of it. He would let Yosuke answer the other question; he was the one who came up with the nickname.
"Oh, yeah, we totally could," Yosuke agreed, ignoring the fact that he probably shouldn't be walking anywhere. He took another sip of soda, nursing it gradually.
"Oh, 'partner'?" It took Yosuke a few seconds to realize what was so weird about that, before remembering what that term meant around here. "Oh! Oh, yeah, no, we're not partners. We're just...partners! We look out for each other, y'know?"
Kurt nodded enthusiastically before Souji turned away. He was sore but only because his muscles were disused and and unstretched. It had only been about three days, sure, but Kurt prided himself on being active, especially since arriving in Death City and going through training. He almost never took the elevator, and he lived on the ninth floor.
His attention returned to Yosuke as he explained the term 'partner' in a way that barely explained anything. He supposed that was how nicknames worked, though. They came out of nowhere and stuck, just like "Lady Face" and his dozen other mildly to extremely insulting nicknames from back home.
Still, a question begged to be asked, Are you a Weapon? Maybe you could be real partners here too.
The kettle was barely beginning to whistle as he turned off the stove, removing the kettle and placing it on a different burner so it would stop whistling. Souji was used to the more traditional way of making tea; no little bags for him. He put the drainer over the mug, and putting the tea leaves into it.
He slowly poured the water into the mug and drainer, holding it carefully as he grabbed a napkin so Kurt would have something to put the drainer on when it was finished. Coming back into the main room, he handed the mug to him carefully, taking a seat on the arm of the couch, close enough so he could see what Kurt was writing.
The red text stood out against the comm's white background, striking Yosuke with a thought that hadn't occurred to him yet.
"Uh...I mean, yeah, I am a Weapon." Unfortunately, remained unspoken, but still understood. "But I don't know if I'd turn into a sword or anything. That's what Souji used back home."
Yosuke toed at Souji when he sat down; mostly to be annoying, but also to alert him to the question at hand.
