Even after spending time with France yesterday, D was still feeling a little frustrated with things when he woke up the next morning. Ezio's removal from the city wasn't bothering D quite as much, but the thought that at any moment he could very well lose a dear friend, at least for a while, was bothering him ( ... )

She didn't answer as quickly as she normally would have, looking up to her host with a smile of her own-- And pausing, for a moment, at the sense that something wasn't quite right. D seemed happy, but there was something off that she couldn't place. The smile, really, but... There was a chance she was imagining it.

Reading people was such a chore when she couldn't read minds, especially when it was people with her own talent for lying and hiding things.

Unsure what to say, she regained her composure, smile brightening quickly as she entered. "Hullo. I hope I'm not too early. There just wasn't much to do at the apartment, and I'm very tired of being bored, so I though, perhaps, you wouldn't mind...?"

That pause... had Rhode seen through him? His eyes widened just slightly at the realization that she may very well have before D tried to regain control over his own mask, hoping to keep his true emotions hidden from both her and Sohki. Neither of them really needed to listen to his fussing, and he wasn't quite willing to lose face in such a way.

Not yet, at least, especially when he felt he could work this out on his own.

He brightened his smile, though he wasn't entirely sure that it worked, and closed the door behind his young friend. "Not at all. I've been merely sitting here and waiting, so there is no harm done." Indeed, there was really nothing left to do. The whole apartment was absolutely spotless thanks to an earlier bout of cleaning.

"I ended up picking up the necessary ingredients yesterday," he said, more to move the conversation along than anything else.

"Alright, then."

Rhode wandered into the apartment, moving around to get into one of the seats on the far side of the kitchen counter. She liked sitting there to watch Mukuro cook, in their place; it gave her a nice view of what was going on, perhaps a chance to help if needed, without getting in the way.

It was rather hard to focus on the prospect of treats, unfortunately. That feeling was still bothering her, even as she tried to shove it off. It wasn't any of her business. She didn't nose around in people's feelings like that unless she wanted to manipulate them, or take advantage of them.

But really. Why couldn't she figure it out? It was stupidly frustrating.

"... Do you have anything I could drink, maybe?"
