Characters: Kuroro, Kurapika, China
Location: Diner
Rating: G-- really?
Time: October 10 early morning
Description: Kuroro and Kurapika have breakfast after stealing things. Also it is China's birthday.

It was mildly comforting and comfortable to be able to do this again. Kuroro hadn't realized how much constraint he was under in Death City until he actually took that first item (a ring on a string) and sneaked out of that boy's unit. It was a small-time job for even smaller crooks, but criminal activity was still criminal activity, and Kuroro had never done particularly well following the rules, especially for such a long time. The only ones he followed to the letter were those imposed by himself to the rest of the Ryodan.

Not that this was actually illegal in the long run. Kuroro still wondered if he was happy with that or not. Rulebreaking wasn't considered that if it was allowed, and he didn't particularly like being beholden, especially for something that was second-nature to him. That was probably why he had been determined to disrupt Mustang's plans, even in a small way like getting Kurapika involved.

Now, Kurapika was an interesting case. Kuroro hadn't been a hundred percent certain if he would get his partner into it -- and in some ways, he had failed at that -- but getting Kurapika to join had been a victory. Nothing as trite as getting Kurapika to see the world in Kuroro's shoes, but something more intended to draw the boy out of his ordinary comfort zones.

And maybe as another sign of trust, as usual. At some point, Kuroro would have to stop using one means to reach another goal.

But for now, it was time to see how his partner was doing. He sent Kurapika a message to meet him for breakfast. Kuroro was already in the diner, dressed in black denims and a black shirt hidden by a jacket in a particularly bright shade of red (the jacket, he discarded before a job).

A quick glance at the date reminded him of someone else, and without thinking about it, sent China a similar message. He hadn't seen the country thieving about, but he assumed that China would be done with the night rounds by now, if he had chosen to do it that way. Hopefully, neither of the voice-doppelgangers had done badly. There was nothing more unpleasant than being caught in the middle of a heist unless planned.
