Time: First part of the log happens on September 9th, after Light's post, the second part happens on September 10th.
Description: Light is back in Death City, so the Wammy boys want to have a little chat with him. But before that, they try to resonate-- just in case they need to team up against Kira to beat him up in a more efficient manner.
This log is composed of two parts: 1) the resonance attempt between Mello and Near, and 2) their confrontation with Light.
Ever since Light Yagami's disappearance, Near had always wondered if he would come back again. It wasn't unheard of, for BREW to bring someone back, and if it brought people back from the dead-- like Mello-- why shouldn't it return someone to this world as well? Of course, the detective had been hoping that Kira wouldn't return... but it didn't surprise him that he had.
He wasn't surprised that Mello wanted to go after him, either. It was inevitable for that confrontation to happen, and the only thing Near could do was to try to control the damage; it was impossible to stop that damage from happening in the first place. Mello was reckless and unpredictable, but there was one thing Near could predict about him and their current situation: the blond would probably lose control when faced with Kira, and someone needed to be there to keep him in check.
Of course, Light's presence implied that he was either a Meister or a Weapon, and as such, that he had some sort of ability unknown to Mello and Near, thus making him particularly dangerous. Near didn't like that, and he didn't like the implications behind Light's potential powers-- he would not allow Kira to defeat him, to defeat them-- but most of all, he didn't like having to agree to work with Mello as his Weapon. Temporarily, of course-- he doubted they could even resonate in the first place-- but even so, the thought of his former rival using him was enough to send an unpleasant shiver down his spine.
He didn't like being used-- no, that was a much too simple way to put it: he hated being used-- but, given the current situation, he didn't have that much of a choice. His own safety was on the line, as well, and he had to value his life above his pride.
Near twirled at a strand of hair and glanced at the wide space surrounding them. They were alone at the training grounds, behind Shibusen, and the place was deserted save for a few trees and the occasional pebbles or fallen leaves... and, of course, the odd moon above them, grinning like it always did. The detective didn't look directly at Mello as he finally spoke: "Shall I transform, then?"
((ooc: Okay, so, for future reference: the order in the second thread is Mello -> Light -> Near.))
