I enjoyed the carnival. I hope they come more often; preferably on times where there isn't much trouble happening around the city. Though the quiet can bode for so many things ... [laughter] The pageant was certainly interesting, however. Congratulations to the winner, though I'm not sure if that's something to be happy about. [he's probably ( Read more... )

What does it usually bode for?

Something problematic. [smile] It can be quite exciting when something goes wrong, even better when we come out alive after, don't you think?

Hahah, is that how you really feel about it?

Most people don't like those sorts of games.

Ah, well, it all depends from person to person. I don't mind, some people do.

"Some". [ A slight understatement. ]

If the threat of death is just exciting, I wonder what it'd take to upset you.

And why would you like to know that?

It's natural to wonder about it. In your case.

For me, well, it's nothing short of an apocalypse.

[laughs]

But that's unimaginable, at the moment.

And you?

It could be. But new worlds have all kinds of possibilities.

[ And more than that, there's a war going on. As far as he knows, there's every possibility that they'll all wind up dead before they see home again, especially if the Witches are the threat they've been hyped as. It's a long, long chain of command, and a person at the top can be capable of almost anything.

Experience suggests it, at least. ]

Do you feel selfless? Since you aren't afraid of dying on your own, but an apocalypse bothers you.

'Do I feel selfless'? [laughs] I was made to, so it cannot be helped. But that is neither here nor there.

[ "Made"?

... Because there's bound to be something behind it, with that phrasing. Never mind the sheer fact that nobody is born selfless, and so he can't mean that if he has any sense at all, and he at least seems to. That's a matter of sheer survival.

So it's a different kind of "make". Maybe a kind he'd understand.

Maybe not. ]

Isn't it?

That's the sort of thing that sounds important.

It does, doesn't it? Not too long ago, it did, but we're neither at the right place nor the right time.

You sound sure.

But couldn't that change?

It won't.

This place prevents it from changing.

[smile!]

Is it the same for you?

... Yes.

[ No means to accomplish what needs to be done. He understands. ]

But in my case, it's bothersome.

Oh? Why is that? Not a fan of having too much freedom, I suppose?
