That is quite enough... I have ignored this for as long as I am capable of.

[Grumpynari is grumpy. He seems to be out in the lobby of the Casualty Communal, sitting before the tree that so happens to be there. The decorations and various tidings of "holiday cheer" are about three seconds from being ripped down if Mitsunari has his way. He's never ( Read more... )

[Video] Forgive me. I have to do this. He's gotten so many different bits... spandexisyouth August 31 2011, 22:16:36 UTC
There is a very large person named Santa who may or may not exist. He likes trees and kissing and giving gifts, so to celebrate him being born Santa's followers give people important to them gifts as well, and put up trees, and hang up plants that mean you have to kiss someone if you are under them. That statue is of Santa!

And there is something called an advent which comes before his birthday and has solemn ceremonies. And singing at peoples' doors until they pay the singers in pudding to go away.

You pay them in what--!?

[Of everything in what this individual has just told him... Pudding? Really?]

Pudding. Fig pudding, specifically. There is even a song about that!

Fig pudding... [Well, sounds more appetizing than persimmon pudding, should such a vile concoction exist...]

Tell me more about this Santa individual... What sort of gifts does he demand as tribute?

Explain.

Please ignore Gai. Santa is just a story told to children, it isn't real.

Christmas is about spending time with friends and family, and many people also celebrate the birth of Jesus, a religious figure in many worlds, but you can have a Christmas just as well without the religious aspect, if you choose. There's gift-giving, feasting, singing, and generally having a nice time.

[Well, that at least makes a bit more sense. It's still nothing Mitsunari finds himself truly interested in but Lili seems to have at least an idea of what she's talking about. This sort of festivity must be common in her world...]

What precisely is a Jesus then, if Santa is but a tale?

Jesus Christ is the son of God, according to the Christian religion. People actually believe in that, whereas Santa is more like a fairy tale.

[Okay. Now it sounds like Xavism.]

So it is this Jesus fellow who has followers, not Santa? Then why do we present gifts in Santa's name?

...yeah okay, that'd probably be less embarrassing. ( because damn if that thing isn't ugly. )

You should probably get rid of it or people will come knocking on your door for candy. ( ...she might be getting holidays mixed up. )

Candy? I was under the impression they came to offer up their physical affections?

[Not that he particularly wants either of those. This holiday thing is getting difficult to follow...]

Do not be given any ideas.

You are granted permission to live, woman. That is as close to a gift as I am going to present to you or your faction.
