My skin is super sensitive. I keep breaking out in rashes on my chin and around my eyes. It is so sensitive that my doctor recommended that I only wash my face with water alone. This might work… if I never got anything on my face. Between the dirt, food and makeup, just plain water alone isn’t going to cut it.
When I noticed that the UK’s number one line in skincare had recently come to Canada, and that they claimed not only to be the “Sensitive Skin Experts” buy were also inexpensive I figured I should give them a shot. The worst that could happen is that I would need to refill my prescription for hydrocordozone cream.
What I immediately liked about the brand is that they sell a set of travel sized items. I initially purchased these as testers. I could sample four products for $13.00 Instead of paying $8.00 per item. The travel pack included: Simple Hydrating Light Moisturiser, Simple Refreshing Facial Wash Gel, Simple Soothing Facial Toner and Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes. For this review I'm going to tackle the first two products.
Simple Hydrating Light Moisturiser:
According to the company’s claim, this product contains no perfume, no dyes, no harsh chemicals or irritants. There are no animal derivatives in the formula. It has been tested by dermatologists. It's non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic. The moisturizer seemed to be unscented to me. I found it to be light, a little went a long way and it absorbed quickly into my skin.
On the down side my skin didn’t feel particularly moisturized. My skin is usually quite dry, so perhaps the formula would work better on those with combination or oily skin? I tried this for a week, and since my skin didn’t react to it I will probably try it again during the winter months to see if I get a different result.
Simple Refreshing Facial Wash Gel:
I think I might just be in love. This product removes all my makeup and leaves my skin feeling clean. It hasn’t irritated my face and had left it feeling soft. It lathers up like soap, though it doesn’t contain any. You only need a pea-sized drop (or less) to wash your face and neck. Like all Simple products the Simple Refreshing Facial Wash Gel formula also contains no perfume, no dyes, no harsh chemicals or irritants. There are no animal derivatives in the formula. It has been tested by dermatologists. It's non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic.
The downside to my new love? Its packaging. The container sits on its lid, and if not closed property, will allow the gel to leak out. Twice I discovered the product had leaked all over the bathroom counter, wasting the precious product and leaving me with a mess to clean up.
