Product Review - Pure Ice Nail Polish
I own many nail polishes. Not as many as some people I know, but I presently have 50+ bottles that have ranged in price from $0.99 to $12.99, which is in my opinion enough to be able to tell the good polish from the “eww that’s horrible” stuff. I was in Wal-Mart last week and came across Pure Ice Nail Polish (http://pureicecosmetics.com/). According to their website they have been around since 1989, though this is the first time I have noticed them. I believe that they are exclusively sold at Wal-Mart for $1.97 each. All Pure Ice Nail Enamels are free of formaldehyde, toluene and DBP.
Being that they were such a steal I purchased two colours. They had a large selection of colours at the Wal-Mart I was at, and I chose two colours that we’re close to anything I already had at home. I purchased: Home Run! (Sea-foam Green) and Jail Bait (Lilac Purple), both had a cream finish.
I painted my nails on Sunday evening. I did two coats of “Home Run!” with no base coat and no top coat. I like things quick and easy and I can’t afford to waste hours doing nothing with my hands letting four or more coats of nail polish to dry.
The two coats produced an opaque even coverage with no streaks and I cannot see my tips through the polish. The formula really nice consistency and didn’t feel like an inexpensive polish.
On Wednesday night I helped my friend assemble a dresser that he purchased for his new condo. I managed to jam one finger when installing a drawer. It chipped my polish (not to mention took some skin off my finger).
On a side note, on the way to my friend’s place I went through the Tim Horton’s drive -thru for a tea and the woman working the window complimented me on my polish.
The picture below was taken to show the state of my nails on Thursday evening. I’m going to touch up the one nail that was damaged by the drawer because I can’t stand walking around with chipped polish. The polish on the other nails appeared to be holding up really well so I think given the situation waiting until the other nails start to chip before I call it quits and remove it seemed like the best course of action.
Two days later (Saturday morning) a few of the other nails had chipped polish.
So it stayed on, chip free for about five and a half days, which I was happy with, given I know what I put my hands through on a daily bases, and I typically count myself lucky if I can get away with three “chip-free” days with any other polish.
The verdict: Loved it. I’ll definitely buy it again.
