In my interactions with you, I think your Soujirou has done a really good job of not being all happy-friendly-squishy or anything. (I would like to throw Brock at him more if possible, because it's a different sort of relationship than the others I've made in camp *selfish whut?*)
You've gotten some good suggestions on ways you can ease into camp relationships despite having such a detached character. My addition, as someone who has very little time to play and is sortof terrified of actually posting (comment ninja ftw!), is to first approach characters who will either quickly befriend someone (or quickly hate you, if you'd rather)--I've found that once you've found someone who will give you a guaranteed reaction when you thread with them, it's easier to be brave and chat with people who require more time and effort to build relationships. I guess the main thing to remember is, not everyone has to be laugh-out-loud funny. It's okay to just have a normal conversation, even in a humor RP. ;P If you really want to be a joke enabler, find folks who are silly/sarcastic that Soujirou can play the straight-man off of. If you want an excuse to meet people, you could have Soujirou start trying to recruit people to the Juppongatana 2 or something. (even if folks here don't seem to support the cause, that doesn't mean it's dead, right?)
Anyway, CFUD is a big group, and it can take some time to get comfortable, but don't give up! I personally think you've been off to a good start so just keep at it! :D

That does sound like a good plan, and it would definitely make me less nervous if I already had an idea as to how another character might react. And I know the conversations doesn't always have to be funny, but I still feel less...I don't know compared to everyone else D:
I did plan to have Soujirou make a recruiting post at some point, if only to see the wave of dotting it will get him XD
