Akanishi is on a rampage.

Akanishi is on a rampage.

“If they’re not going to act like fans, then they aren’t fans.  They’re crazy, evil-”

“It’s not something that hasn’t happened before.”  Nakamaru tries to appease him - as calmly as he can as they rush through a costume change.  He can feel Akanishi’s eyes rolling at him.  “Kamenashi is fine. We’re all used to it.  Don’t acknowledge them.”  He trips a little as he tries to pull on pants covered in beading and feathers and glitter and unicorn fur.  He’s proud of his little speech and how well Akanishi seems to take it.  “Akanishi~kun, can you help tie my-”

Nakamaru realizes something is off because Akanishi never takes differing opinion with silence (his thoughts are confirmed when he turns around to see Akanishi is gone), and he really really really quickly ties his sash and his pants might be falling down a little bit, but he’s gotta get out on stage and help everyone else rein the bastard in.

---

When Akanishi appears on stage again, Kamenashi and Tanaka are talking about Kamenashi’s latest drama as Ueda and Taguchi slink off stage for their costume change.

“-airing on Sundays at 10pm.  Please watch!  Thank you!” Kamenashi finishes, and the arena cheers except for the evil group of girls too close to Akanishi that jeer Kamenashi, simultaneously calling him fat and ugly and skinny and bitchy and disgusting and a waste of space.

---

Nakamaru knows he’s too late because when he gets back on stage, Akanishi is leaning off the edge of a walkway screaming into his microphone for “certain members of the audience to please be respectful so that everyone else can enjoy the concert” or else he is “going to let security know and make sure that they are never ever allowed within a kilometer of any Johnny again, which means that they will have to leave the country or live in rice paddies because they are LOTS AND LOTS of Johnnys everywhere.”

Nakamaru sighs, and tries to play it off like it’s a huge joke with a, “Eh?  What did I miss?”

---

The next day, there are rumors abound that Kamenashi was the one who did the yelling, that Akanishi hates Kamenashi fans because he wants Kamenashi to himself, that Akanishi jumped into the crowd and beat a few girls up, and that one of the girls is actually one of Akanishi’s ex-girlfriends who is pregnant with Kamenashi’s child except he won’t take responsibility so she and her friends decided to heckle him at a KAT-TUN concert.

Needless to say, it’s a long fucking day.  They’re all called in for a meeting with Johnny, which they haven’t had in a while, and they’re all kind of annoyed because the bastard walks into the conference room an hour late, and upon finding out what time it is says, “Huh?  Meeting canceled-it’s past my dinner time!” and leaves again, assistant trailing pitifully after him.

They all look at Akanishi.

“I don’t regret it,” he says, indignantly, and goes back to texting.

“You’ve gotten us into more trouble than it’s worth, Akanishi~kun,” Taguchi sing-songs.

“They don’t know how much time and effort each of us puts into this.  We’re not their playthings.” Akanishi doesn’t stop texting.  “You don’t have to thank me,” he says, sharp tongue coming out.  “I hope they come at me next time.”

“Hey, hey, Akanishi, we can’t start feuds with our fans.”

“They’re not fans!”

“We can’t start feuds with anyone.  Calm down!”

“Okay,” Akanishi says, and the air hangs thick.  They don’t fight anymore, the group.  They’ve settled into a groove, and they all know each other way too well.  They’re all about compromise because they all have busy individual schedules, and in the grand scheme of the universe, little things like this don’t particularly matter.  “Should I apologize at the show tomorrow afternoon?”

“Maybe not apologize, but play off your actio-”

“No,” Kamenashi says, and everyone looks at him in surprise.  Nakamaru wants to bang his head against the table because he just wants this over and done with: to the next obstacle they have to face.  “Don’t.”  Sometimes Kamenashi and Akanishi egg each other on because they’re more similar than people think.  Except then compromise becomes hard because it’s two against four and those odds are better than one against five, if only because all Akanishi needs is a little bit of support to become his stubborn self again.  And none of them ever really fight him on stupid things anymore.

“Great!” Akanishi chirps.  “Do any of you have dinner plans?”
