Got up too early again, so we had to wait about a half hour for anything to open at Akihabara. But the first stop of the day was worth waiting for.
Misudo!! I got a Double Chocolate Pie to make up for McDonalds not having the sankaku choco pie anymore.
One good thing about getting to Akiba so early was getting to laugh at all the other crazy people.
The line starts at about the middle of the huge Don Quixote…
…continues around the block…
…and turns the corner again!
I asked one of the people what they were lining up for. Guess what his answer was.
Pachinko. (≧∪≦)
And I didn’t notice this before! It’s a ramen vending machine!
I saw a thing about these vending machines the day before I left Japan. They’re all over the place! The canned ramen was even being sold in Donki, and in the omiyage shops in Hokkaido.
We were wandering inside Donki and found this. It’s supposed to make your face skinnier. Oh Japan XD How come we don’t have strange stuff like this in the Don Quixote at home?
Another good thing about traveling with Cousin and his Twin: they go down side streets and can still find their way back to the station. Of course, this leads to finding places like that fake gun hobby shop where I got a lot of reading done, or yet another golf shop where both Cousin and I get a lot of reading done… Though usually it ends up with us finding interesting things.
I wasn’t brave enough to try the meat shavings from that huge thing in front of the heater.
Cousin was determined to find a maid café and go in. And we found plenty. Heh, he must have a real ‘otaku’ look about him, because whenever we walked past the maid kissa girls they’d actually reach around Cousin’s Twin to hand their fliers to Cousin!
This is one of the bigger signs we saw. Most were just big enough to say the name of the place.
Studio Café Strawberry. This is the one we actually went into. And I wasn’t the only female customer! There’s actually something on the menu where female customers can go in back and try on whatever outfit they want to for ¥1000 (≧∪≦) There were other funny things on the menu too, like “Magic”, and the Shio Nyaamen (Salt-flavor ramen with a kitty face made out of the ramen toppings). When you order that one you have to miao with the girls. I would have snuck a picture of the menu but we were on camera.
And bwahahahaaaa! We found one! Remember the rumors of the cafés where girls dress up as guys? Club Mai:lish is one of them.
Cousin and Cousin’s Twin fail so badly at the Guy/Girl Game. They were convinced that these are guys.
Duckie, I kept up the tradition! Donuts and dolls! Before we left I dragged the guys to the Volks store. (^-^)
When we got back we stopped at the McDonalds for dinner.
We’re not entirely sure what Cousin’s Twin ordered. It was some kind of croquet burger, we think…
Ebi Filet-O! Cousin was so happy.
